The hand rail bottom had rusted through. These supports work really well and provide solid support. I mounted with Tapcon concrete screws. The two set screws ensure the rail is tight.

The handrail footer had rusted away where it's supposed to connect to the cement of the steps. This unit was exactly the right size to make the handrail safe again - I used concrete screws to attach it to the step and the built-in set screws to secure it to the remaining bit of the railing. Needed some coercion i.e. banging it with a hammer, but that means I got a good secure fit. You know how rust sometimes bulges up under a painted surface? I think that's why this didn't just slip right on, but it's safe & sound now.

It was tough to find 1” flanges. These should work perfectly for what I need.
