These aluminum hidden fasteners work good for what they are designed for with a couple improvements needed. Screws should be longer and fit snug in the hole and the aluminum clip made a little taller. These were the only issues that made them harder to install. I swapped the screws out with black stainless 1½" ones that fit slightly snug that i had for other deck jobs. Only had to deal with them not being tall enough which caused them to screw down at a angle making it harder to install the next board. I installed them on Timbertech decking. Can't speak for other decking products, i only use Timbertech and the lower tongue it about 3/8" thick.

I have a long deck and had to use butt-to-butt long boards. Using the regular Trek fasteners did not work well as the boards are 'worming'. They expand and contract a minuscule amount with heat and cold. But some end up moving on the long side. The original fasteners offer only 1/2 inch shared by the two boards. Eventually one board will jump out of the rail. With these, the shared fastener length is more than double. This lets the boards worm a little bit without 'derailing'.

I ordered these as spares just in case for our composite deck installation. These fit with the Envision brand composite deck material. The clips are aluminum and not plastic like some of the other ones I have seen. They are very sturdy and durable since the aluminum is solid. They come with adequate screws.

Well made, all stainless steel and aluminum, but due to the vertical installation they're harder (slower) to use than clips where the screw goes in at an angle. The problem is most pronounced if your deck boards are not perfectly straight and you need to pull them in a little to keep the gap size consistent. With these you end up having to use a long push bar (reverse clamp) to hold the boards in place until all the clips are in place and even then it's not as tight as you can achieve with Tiger Claws (I had some of the latter and ended up using one of them in each place where the warp was particularly bad). The ridges on the underside means that these hold much better than the plastic ones, though, the latter tending to allow the boards to migrate apart after months of temperature cycling. Only other flaw is that these are Phillips head whereas most others use a #1 square drive: These are much easier to strip the heads of if you're not careful. I couldn't use the plastic ones anyway because the grooves in the boards I had were too small (these, being aluminum, are much thinner and so only require a very small groove).

These Aluminum "T" clamps toenail down decking for a secure mount without putting screws or Nails in the Decking, this prolongs the life and gives a clean install with NO visible screws or Nails. The Composite Decking was designed to be mounted using a product like this. Do NOT Nail or Screw down Decking. These are high quality clamps with lifetime design, much better than plastic mounts that crack over time. Use Aluminum mounts for a lifetime job.
