About this item

  • Premium Material: The threaded inserts for 3D printing are made of premium brass, extremely sturdy, not easy to break or deform, also can withstand high temperature above 300°C / 572°F. Excellent thermal conductivity also makes your 3D printer to work more effectively.
  • Easy to Install: The knurled brass nuts can be easily installed into the the tapered holes of 3D printers by heating, also can be molded by injection molding. The 3D printing brass nuts with full knurled patterns can perfectly match with your 3D printers. Practical nuts make your 3D printer work well.

I'm building a case for an electronics project and these are perfect. It was hard to find inserts only 3mm long so I was very happy when I got them and they worked.

These seem to be consistent and well made. The internal threads have been clean on the couple dozen that I have used. The teeth are not as crisp as the taller ones that I bought at McMaster, but they certainly do the job, and at this price point... Excellent! I bought two packs, and I will definitely get more. There are no instructions on what you should do for the hole that these are going in to. I am heat setting these using a Weller WE1010 with an M3 soldering tip adaptor (also from Amazon) set at 250°C. Material is 70% fill ASA that has been built up via FDM. Through experimentation it looks like a hole that is 4.4-mm in diameter with a little chamfer on the top (0.1-mm) and a bigger chamfer on the bottom (0.3-mm) works great with very little material push-out on either the front or the back. Note that in my application the nut goes all the way through the part, which is why these particular heat set nuts were so attractive!

I use to screw bolts directly into a hole drilled in the plastic (usually PLA), but that obviously isn't the best solution, so I thought I would give these a try. The applications I was using these for are pieces of plastic that are just 4 or 5mm thick, so I couldn't use one of the inserts that are much thicker.I only use a regular soldering iron tip to push these into the plastic, so it's not as evenly done or consistent as if one were to use the tips purpose built for pressing these into plastic, but hopefully these pictures give an idea of how they look.I highly recommend these to anyone who needs brass inserts, especially ones that are relatively thin/shallow.
