I used this product to protect some ABS vent pipe while I soldered copper pipe 2" away. I had it doubled-up; it quickly burned through one side and scorched the other. I was unable to complete the job with a torch and ended up cutting the pipe and using Sharkbite fittings instead.Unfortunately, you can't get asbestos anymore so I'm not sure what a good solution would be.
