These industry workhorses are 3 pin regulators that use 2 resistors to set the voltage, or one resistor to set a current. the TO-220 package is a great power package and can be use with or without a heat sink depending on how much power you will be asking it to radiate. very useful and easy to use. It drives the output so the sense pin is 1.25 volts lower than the output. this is a pretty good deal.

I guess when you buy something this cheap you have to accept the consequences, these voltage regulators are what they say they are if you want to use it for 5 minutes, because it will not last that long, cheap counterfeit product.

You can take my review of the grain of salt, because I'm not an expert, but I looked at the data sheet online for this (Ti) part, and attempted to make a simple current controller which should only need one resistor. I tried a few of these pieces, and it would not regulate current whatsoever including with the use of a potentiometer to try some different values. It would pass voltage, but would not regulate current, and so if I momentarily hooked my multimeter up to it it would jump quickly to 350ma. Also tried flipping the chip around, in case it could have somehow been made with a reversed pinout, but ironically the chip performed exactly the same! This is a huge bummer, because it's for an important project but I wish to act upon tonight, and I spent almost 2 hours troubleshooting my equipment and components to make sure I knew where the fault lie.

Total garbage. Not only is the pin-out incorrect(only burned up 6 to figure that out) but they cannot exceed even 1amp of rated output and they start smoking like a oiled up tire fire. Do not recommend!!!!

Does exactly what they're supposed to, and no bad ones yet.Does introduce some signal noise however. Need to filter after the regulator circuit.
