I like to have an assortment of blades on hand for my reciprocating saw, which I use for everything from wood to cast iron. It takes an assortment of wood blades and an assortment of metal cutting blades to get the most out of the tool. These blades are 18 tpi, which is a medium fine blade. It will be good for things like nails and sheet metal. I tried it out first cutting a piece of 1/2 inch square steel; it was able to cut it, the cut was smooth, but getting started was a bit hard as it wanted to jump around. I started to time the cut, but the vibration kept shaking the clamps loose and I had to stop a couple times to cinch things up. The blade was still sharp after the cut. I had some 24 tpi blades that might have been better for thick steel, but I didn't try them. These are good blades, the cobalt content will make them last longer, six inch is fine for cutting sheet metal and thin objects. Unless you are cutting the same thing every time you use the tool, you want an assortment of blades on hand, so buy these and buy some others.

My reciprocating saw is one of my favorite tools. I've used it everywhere from the orchard pruning trees to my van, pruning old bolts. Like most users of these saws, I go through many blades. They take a beating on almost every job, often getting bent working in tight places. Sometimes actually lasting long enough to get dull. These 18 TPI blades are just about what you’d hope for at this price. I tested one on some old stripped bolts. It cut reasonably quickly through 3/8” and 1/4” bolts. With my Makita the 3/8” took about 30 seconds and cut i clean. The blade was surprisingly cool after. It didn’t struggle with any of the bolts. I couldn’t detect any obvious signs of dulling. At this price I wouldn’t expect them to be great for commercial use, but for a DIY person I think they’re adequate to good. Generally I tend to regard these blades as a commodity and purchase based on price per unit. For my use, these blades deserve a place on the list of acceptable suppliers.Full Disclosure: I acquired this as a Vine user. While we pay nothing up front for products, it is counted as taxable income at the retail price. This generally means Vine members pay about 30% of retail in taxes. I worked construction for a lot of years and a good reciprocating saw is one of those must have tools. A good saw is only as good as the blades. These days I only use my saw occasionally and usually for some quick cut. Throw away blades are acceptable and have the advantage of being less expensive. These blades don’t compare to the well known name brands but they aren’t priced to compare. Having said all that I’m very satisfied. Being short they don’t flop around in a cut. They’re thick enough that I haven’t had one break. They don’t hold their sharpness as well and that’s really the only difference. If I was in an attic, under a house, or anywhere that required time and energy to change a blade I wouldn’t use these. But for quick cuts or sporadic use they’re great.

Purpose for Product: To assist in those never-ending DIY projects.Product Inspection: Five 6" blades wrapped in plastic, no storage case. They are rated 18TPI Bi metal. These blades are just a little thicker than a premium blade.Product Performance: Blade fit my name brand reciprocating saw perfectly. Sawed a 1&1/2" by 1&1/2" angle brace, see photo. It took 19 seconds to complete. Sawed the same brace with a premium name blade, it took 12 seconds to complete.Summary: Everything is a matter of perspective. Due to the great flexibility of a reciprocating saw the blades get abused. Guessing half the time the blade gets distorted to an unusable condition before it gets dull or maybe I am too tough on them. Premium quality blades can be purchased for three dollars per 5 pack more. These blades can't compete with that pricing. However, this seller has a 25-pack option that is more budget friendly. Downside is that not a lot of folks need 25 blades for one usage area. Overall, the quality doesn't justify the pricing for my needs, but may be just fine for yours.

These work, after you use some muscle and sweat, but the DeWalt or Milwaukee ones work SO much better. Yes, they are more expensive, and you always get what you pay for with things like this. I was using on some pretty hard metal though, so I tried them out with other materials to be fair about it.Sheet metal it cuts easily, but will snag every now and then and it does not cut as cleanly as the blade made for sheet metal that have smaller teeth to prevent the jagged edges.Metal pipes it cuts fantastically, if you are cutting copper or PVC, lol. Anything heavier than that, and you're better off getting the cast iron, gritty blades. trying to cut through a pipe just smoothed out the teeth on these blades and after going through 3 of them, I was about 1/4 inch through the pipe.It works on nails, but the smaller toothed blades still do this job better.Honestly, these are better on wood than they are on metal. The work GREAT on the plywood I had to cut.

They cut mild steel fine. They don’t last as long as some of the better blades I’ve had, but for the price they are not bad.

Blades seem thicker and less springy than previous ones I have bought from different brands .
