These cover plates are exactly as advertised; they're metal with a white finish, and come with screws to secure them in place. I saw one reviewer that mentioned the dimensions on theirs were off, but I didn't experience that on my end. I compared the plates to a cheaper plastic one I had already purchased, and aside from the different materials (metal vs plastic) they were completely the same.Yeah, not much else that I feel I can say in this review. If you need a few plates to cover up what used to be a hard-wired smoke detector, these should do the trick.

Sometimes you need a hole on drywall for various purposes. Drywall repair/patching is more costly. Install such a cover plate saves time and could be used to access the hole again in the future if needed. The plate is metal and sturdy. If used for a electric box, you need to use drywall anchors because of the hole spacing on this plate. Otherwise if the hole is larger than the hole pattern allows, you need another metal or wood piece across the diameter of the hole and mount this plate to the cross support.

Didn't realize they were made of metal so a bit more heavy duty than needed but it works great covering the ceiling electrical box where there once was a light. Bonus is I have 2 left over if needed.

I literally put off buying a set of these for two years. Two years. Two years of putting up with a hole in my ceiling where a junction box had been added to replace a lamp. Two years of having wires hanging down from the ceiling. Two years of my wife asking me why I didn't just order a set of these on Amazon to cover the hole.Well, better late than never I always say. This cover was easy to install (though with the length of the screws included, you'll want to have a driver at the ready, otherwise, prepare yourself to be working on it for a long time,) and it looks great, finally covering up the shameful lack of action that has plagued me for over 24 months.Don't let two years go by for you and your project. Just order this set and you'll even have a couple of extras for the next time!

These plates have 3.5" hole spacing, which is not the standard 2.75" (obviously) on standard ceiling electrical boxes found here (Bay Area, CA). Another drawback is that the perimeter of the plate has a skirt that projects about 1/8 inch, so it will project 1/8" down from a celing when fastened tightly to the electrical box.The protrusion means it will be noticible even if it were painted to match the celing color (it is shiny enamel "applicance white" as supplied) and patina. Also, it is relatively heavy steel and a bit clunky, which makes drilling an extra hole for standard 2.75" screw spacing more difficult than need be, plus it may eventually rust if bare metal is exposed (from scratching or drilling the needed extra hole). This plate would be much better for the use case of covering a ceiling electrical box if it were flat, had 2.75" hole spacing, was made from aluminum, and had a matte finish.
