Product Description

Standard size, molded general purpose polycarbonate faceshield offers high impact face protection. Faceshield mounts quickly to any 3M Headgear without tools, snaps or cams. Requires protective eyewear, sold separately.

From the Manufacturer

3M™ Clear Polycarbonate Faceshield WP96, Face Protection 82701, uses the 3M Easy-Change faceshield system to mount quickly to 3M headgear (sold separately). When used with appropriate headgear, this faceshield helps provide head and face protection in working environments with sparks, chips, and debris. This protective faceshield is recommended when chipping, chiseling, drilling, grinding, machining, power fastening, riveting, sanding, and sawing. Recommended industries include construction, general manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and transportation. The clear, molded faceshield provides visibility and high impact protection. Note: Protective eyewear/goggles (sold separately are required to be worn at all times with the faceshield.

This polycarbonate faceshield meets the performance requirements of ANSI Z87.1-2010. Faceshield measures 9” tall x 14.5” wide x 0.08 thick.

Workers performing tasks in which flying sparks or particles are present should wear protection to shield their face and head. Industries in which this is typically true include metalworking, utilities, and woodworking. Because the shield does not fully enclose the face, protective eyewear/goggles are required to be worn to safeguard eyes.

For more than a century, 3M has applied innovation and technology to improving our customers’ lives and supporting their business goals. Today the company, from its headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, serves industrial and commercial customers and consumers in nearly 200 countries. The shield worked great! They are just a little on the pricy side.

good quality stock but because of thickness, they will have a lot of spring. Many frames may not be able to hold the spring from going back to the flat sheet as received. The polycarb does melt at 310F so I tried bending a few with heat and after the first two, they were fine. I used a metal 1 gallon paint can that was new and empty with the cover off. I used the oven stainless steel grills with a cookie sheet under it to hold the polycarb into the initial desired arc and got it to relax at 300F and then took it out with the arc and placed it over the paint can and turned it up to 305F ( please keep in mind that ovens can vary in temp so you must watch it very closely. Once you heat it and it relaxes with the heat, it will keep its new shape when cooled. After about 6 minutes at 305F, it was soft enough to form to the can. It was perfect for my frames. I am very please with the quality after finding out how to bend and form to fit a frame through experimenting.

The original shield was scratched. This two-pack was a perfect fit as a replacement.

Instead of cutting my lawn with a gas mower, I switched to grass trimmers in 2008. Regular mowing was hard with the numerous inclines on my property. Also, the rainy Seattle weather clogged up the rotating blades and made mowing impossible..The weed wacker tossed gravel, sticks, small branches, dirt, sand, and rocks all over the place. To avoid being injured or blinded, wearing a face-shield was a necessity. The 3M provided the protection for 13 years. With the numerous scratches and dents, it became almost impossible to see. So, it was time to purchase a replacement.

There is no telling how many times these have saved my eyes from flying debris in my fab shop. I even use them to change the oil in my F250. No more dirt or grease in my eyes. Safety glasses just don't cut it like a face shield does. If you are grinding, you need a face shield. These are a good product. You have 10 fingers. If you lose one that sucks. But you still have nine left. You lose one eye and you are halfway to being completely blind.

I used a full face shield while doing the weed-eating on my farm ( I use a big Stihl 350 bicycle type weed-eater). With this type of power and lots of rocks and animals on the farm, I needed something that would protect my face not only from rock/wood chips flung by the nylon string, but animal dung that would penetrate the regular screen mask. This unit provides full face protection and so far after more than a year of use, it has held up quite nicely, taking all the rocks and other debris that the nylon string picks up and throws at me. However, after some heavy use (almost abuse), its time to replace it and plan to purchase the same unit. Very reliable and durable. Highly recommended at least for the purpose I use it for.

Bought two of these to replace the ones I had. Use them for Lathe work, and the faceshield gets finish dirty from finishes that spin of a turning. After awhile it just doesn't clean up. These were exact fit, and clear as a bell.

Years ago, I purchased a faceshield from the orange and white big-box home and garden depot. The crown and headgear for that item does not show a brand name but it came with an AOSafety Z78+, WP96 Polycarbonate shield measuring 9" x 14.5" x 0.080". I hesitated ordering this item, not knowing if it was a direct replacement; I can now report that it is.I use this item while cutting and grinding steel; it became quite dirty over time and appears to now be etched by my own sweat on the inside of the polycarbonate. The old one would not wash clean and needed to be replaced.
