I covered my headlights to protect for uv and chips. They've been on for about 5 months now. Still look new. Installing can be a pain depending on the application. My headlights are all rounded and curves, with no flat surfaces, so it was not fun. But that's not the products fault.

I purchased this to protect side panels of my new wheelchair since I knew I would scratch them in the first week while getting used to it. And I did hit door frames several times while going through door ways. The film got scratched but it protected the side panels very well. I wouldn't say putting it on was easy. But I expected it because of its size. As long as you got enough patience, you can apply large films like this without having too many bubbles. Just go slowly. Peeling off is easy and leave no marks or damage the surface. I am ordering more so I can replace the one currently on my wheelchair after it get "enough" scratches.

This stuff is nothing short of amazing! My expectations were low that I would have the skill to use it, but the material is very forgiving. I was just wanting to cover painted grill trim pieces on my Honda Odyssey. I dont like the Odyssey grill so thought I would improve it by getting the chrome trim pieces painted body color. Unfortunately, here in Maine everything on the front of a car takes a beating from sand and stones in the winter. It took only a week or so to get a couple small chips. So I thought I'd give the 3M stone guard film a try. The first one looked horrible, but I figured I would just go ahead with the others and see if my skill improved. No matter how hard I tried I still had some water bubbled still under the film. I saw discussion on forums that this would dissipate in time and with exposure to sun light, but I was concerned that if I put the grill back on the car with temps below freezing (Maine!) bad things might happen. So I did the best I could and then set the pieces in the furnace room in the basement where temps are about +80f. I am absolutely freaking amazed that after a few days there are no bubbles and even the first piece that I did looks perfect. If you knew me you would know that perfect is rare. Im obsessive compulsive about my cars.... who else would spend any time trying to improve a Honda Odyssey? Its like expert 3M elves went to work over a couple nights and re-covered the trim pieces. Amazing! Oh, and this stuff is so tough. I dont think I'll have any more trouble with store chips. Im looking forward to trying my hand with some bigger items.

INSTRUCTIONS below are from "Clear Mask" websiteThey also have kits and how to videosI don't work for them (haha) but the clear bra came with no instructions at all and I found this site to be helpful.Tools & Materials Recommended•Soft Installation Squeegee•1 quart spray bottles (quantity: 2)•Baby shampoo•70% Isopropyl Rubbing alcohol•Non Scratch Detailing ClothCLEAR BRA KITS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:1. Surface must be clean, free of wax, grease, bugs, etc., and between 55ºF & 90ºF. Clean surface thoroughly with alcohol solution.2. Clean your hands thoroughly and keep your fingers wet, as they will come in contact with the adhesive side of the material occasionally and wet fingers will not stick to material or leave marks on it.3. Check part position, shape, and size before installing.4. Spray solution on vehicle surface.5. Pull protective liner back to expose adhesive. Spray with solution. Position clear bra on vehicle. As long as there is solution under the paint protection film, it can be repositioned. REMEMBER: You cannot use too much solution!6. Spray solution on top of the paint protection film so squeegee will not stick or scratch the film. Starting in center, squeegee out solution and any bubbles. Overlap squeegee strokes to avoid leaving any bubbles under material.7. For recessed areas or compound curves, rewet the adhesive and slowly squeegee again with firm pressure. The material will stretch some. Some pieces will require stretching to obtain proper fit and to conform to the contour of curves.8. If any edge has lifted or won’t stay down, spray with a solution of 20% isopropyl alcohol and 50% water, and work down edge with lint free paper towel. The towel will absorb the liquid so the material will adhere to the painted surface. Sometimes if you give the edge a few minutes to dry, it will stay down.SLIP SOLUTION: 32OZ SPRAY BOTTLE: 3 DROPS OF JOHNSON & JOHNSON BABY SHAMPOO!TACK SOLUTION: 32OZ SPRAY BOTTLE: FILL WITH 12OZ OF 70% ISOPROPANOL 24OZ OF WATER!

I wish I would have bought the spray-on stuff rather than this. If you do not have experience with installing this type of product,( window tint, large decals ) I would stay away from it, or find a Professional to do it for you. If you have all flat surfaces, it's not to bad, but any compound curve areas like around lights, recesses etc are extrememly difficult to make it stick # one, and not look like a total hack job #2.As far as the product, itself is great outside of the install hassles, I installed it on the front of my 2003 SVT Cobra for a 2500 mile road trip, and I did not get any stone chips or other damage. It did not look perfect, but I did not intend on leaving it on after the trip, especially after how difficult it was to install, and you could see the edges of it, I removed it after my trip. You would also need some stuff to install the average guy might not have readily available, like automotive masking tape, super sharp scissors, squeegees made speciall for film type products, etc.Next time, I'd go with the spray.
