Well made and the retention lever is spring loaded, which will be useful for some applications, especially for a captive line. If you plan to use these for hanging garments or towels, etc... the lever may not be so handy.I'm not sure how useful these would be for hanging fenders, since most people use the stanchions or lifelines as attachment points. If you wanted to hang them at deck level though, these might work. Maybe more useful for a dock our seawall

The fit and finish is good, in the action of the swing gate is also good. I'm going to mount them on my Dock posts which are wood. And then hang a dedicated fender on a short piece of rope so my wood boat can come to rest against them. Then when not in use the fender can be removed from the dock keeping clean of algae and dirt
