This is a nice chin/shoulder rest for smaller individuals who can't use those larger, sturdier shoulder rests that are molded and raise the instrument up multiple inches. Or for larger individuals who just want to be *close* to the instrument. I really appreciate that this is washable, because, as something you have to put your face on, chin rests tend to collect skin oils and become kind of gross over time. No problem here -- just pop it in the wash (I'd use a laundry bag to be safe). A basic product with a basic function, at a good price. Nothing to complain about, though it definitely doesn't offer as much cushion as thicker products -- just enough to blunt all those hard edges. Not bad!

I am oily as heck (thanks, Italian genetics!), so of course my chin rest is prone to getting pretty greasy. This pad is washable, so I can just clean it and not worry about getting face oil everywhere.

I misinterpreted the picture. This protector does not fit a whittner chin rest. I need to order a larger one probably with no bend in it. Just a mostly rectangular cover.
