90 mil bucket made from FDA compliant High Density PolyEthylene (HDPE). A Gamma Seal lid adapts the bucket to a threaded spin-on / spin-off lid. The Gamma Seal is customer installed but may be pre-installed on the bucket for shipping efficiency. A rubber mallet (not included) is useful for installing the threaded ring to the bucket. The ring seals to the rim of the bucket with an O-ring gasket. The threaded lid portion then spins on and off sealing to the ring with another O-ring gasket. The O-ring gasket has a food grade silicone lubricant the helps the O-ring not to grab the plastic sealing surfaces. If this lubricant is removed through excessive cleaning, the O-ring can grab and stretch and loose it's retention to the lid. Plastic containers are rarely true. Leaving the lid snug for a period of time and allowing the several components to true to each other in a warmer room temperature environment can help with performance. For long term food and liquid applications we recommend a conventional snap-on lid with a gasket. The Gamma Seal shins in it's convenience. We like the Gamma Seal for applications requiring convenient frequent access. Gammas Seals are user installed but may be per-installed for shipping efficiency.

The secure lid is a great feature. I've purchased food-grade buckets before, but they typically come with the normal, pry-off lids, which after time and use, get loose and I'm concerned about the quality of the seal. This screw-on lid is great! Very secure, and very durable. On this particular purchase, I underestimated the size of the bucket. I needed something that would store about a week's worth of dog food and fit nicely in the kitchen cabinet. The 5-gal is too large, but I'm keeping it for brining turkey and other meats for the smoker. I've since ordered another, now 2-gallon bucket, which will suffice perfectly for the dog food.

This is a nice sturdy bucket with the gamma seal lid - I wish there were other colors for the lid. It was kind of pricey for a bucket but it was exactly what I needed.

I love this thing. All the problems I have with the cheaper buckets are gone. The handle is made of a higher grade metal so it won't bend or come out of the hole that keeps it on. The bucket itself is made out of a very durable plastic that won't bend or snap, and the lid. Oh the lid. The lid is awesome. Even with water sloshing around in it, my truck bed is completely dry after driving around with it all day in the back. Buying another right now.

Solid product. Yellow is such a beautiful contrast against the white. Here's my review of the 5 Gallon White Bucket with Gamma Seal Lid in Yellow:*** Slight plastic factory smell and how to handle it ***Echoing another customer review, there is a bit of a strong plastic smell when you stick your head in the bucket, but that's normal and to be expected. I used a slightly damp paper towel with a couple drops of tea tree oil to wipe down the cap and the inside of the bucket, let it air dry, and then did it again with a new damp paper towel with another couple of oil drops. I did a quick wipe into all the holes in the cap too because there are little caves that give it depth. I just wanted to make the scent a little more fresh instead of that factory smell. So after leaving it open a second time so everything could air dry, I smelled the bucket again and it had the plastic factory smell again. So, I just closed the lid (empty bucket at the time) and left it alone. A few minutes later I went back to go smell it and it smelled fresh and clean like tree tea oil.*** I used it (past tense) to store a big bag of rice ***My grandma used to have our rice in a bucket like this one (without the gamma lid because we were not as legit as times are now), which is why I got this item. I personally put a 25lbs bag of rice into the bucket and it fit really nicely! You can easily fit the whole bag into the bucket and put a scoop in it and still have a healthy amount of headspace! BUT WARNING: the bags of rice are dirty on the outside. So I would not recommend storing the whole bag of rice (like grandma did) in the bucket. Please just take my word for it.You could potentially just pour the rice into the bucket after the wipe-down, and then wipe-down again between finishing up the rice. But I have since really thought it through and decided that's just not how I'm going to use the $20 bucket. I'm now going to use it to store different dry ingredients into double zip bags (rice, flour, beans, potato starch, corn starch, rice flour . . . ). A medium amount of dry ingredients that is replenished once every 2-3 months or so is more functional for my cooking habits. I realized commercial bags of dry ingredients are dirty on the outside so instead of getting 25 lbs of rice, I get moderate portions and put them into fresh labeled containers and keep them stored in the bucket.*** Good seal, clean design, and appropriate light filtering ***The rubber gasket fitted around the lid is very snug. Good fit. Mine even has a little smudge on it which I LIKE because it makes it more industrial grade (and the gasket is for sealing the cap against the bucket trim, so it does not encounter the food). But it's also food grade -- I especially like the design of trim on the bucket, which is very clean and professional. If you put a bright LED flashlight inside the bucket, the light will shine through the white material. Similarly, if you shine the flashlight from the outside an inch away from the material, it will shine through into the inside. Holding the flashlight from about 3ft away from the material diminishes the light from seeping inside significantly (and this is a bright flashlight). Just wanted to provide a light spec in case anybody is using this to to store potatoes or garlic -- which by the way, if you're exploring to store those in a room filled with sunlight I recommend getting a black bucket and lining it with brown paper bag material (or technically, the best way in my opinion is a mesh bag and hanging in a dark room). I would keep the bucket out of direct sunlight, but am also confident it could handle some light indirect sunlight (like the sun is in the room but not shining on the bucket directly like a light beam).Overall, it has a very clean design and professional appearance. If I were to expand my homestead and make a pantry room for large amounts of dry ingredients, I'd buy this brand again from TankBarn. Probably with red and orange as my next colors. Hope this helps! Utmost!

LOVE this thing! The bucket's just a bucket. Nothing special. But the lid is a gift from the gods.I drilled little holes all around the outside edge. When I'm rescuing rattlesnakes, I can scoop the snake into the bucket, and the lid completely shields my hand as I put it on. With one quick flick of the wrist it spins smoothly into place and the snake is secure for short distance transfer to a safer place. When it's time to release him, my hand is again fully protected by the lid as I remove it from the bucket -- no danger of a nip from someone hovering at the top of the bucket. Road rescues are so much safer and more efficient with it than fussing with a bag in the dark and the wind. Yep. I love my bucket.

This is a new food grade, 5 gallon bucket, and Gamma Seal Lid, of a color of your choice. After browsing several buckets, I couldn’t tell if they would be compatible with the lids and managed to talk myself into this matched set. I certainly prefer purchasing new since used food grade buckets could have stored some “other” items before I got a hold of the thing. So here I am with all the risk mitigated. The bucket is heavy duty (90 mil thick wall) with a handle and plastic grip. The Gamma Lid snapped onto the bucket relatively easy by using the heels of my hands, and my weight to persuade the ring to seat. I say that as a 6’ 2” man with a wee bit of extra weight to use as some perspective. Some videos show the lids being installed with a rubber (that’s rubber) mallet, but I think this probably could be avoided. Do NOT use a metal hammer or mallet on this as it will likely cause some damage to the lid or seal. But snapping down the ring wasn’t a big deal. The lid threads into the ring and has a generous cross shaped handle for easy opening. The various colors make sorting the product easy, even if you’re illiterate. So that’s a superfluous sentence since the people it’s intended to help, can’t read it.The colors can be used as a label for the contents. I store yellow dent corn in a bucket with a red lid, black mustard seeds in one with a green lid, and red wheat in a blue topped container. By now it should be painfully obvious, that I once worked for the government. In any case, you have a total of six colors to choose from and have an air and water tight environment of around 2/3’s of a cubic foot. Plus the Gamma Seal Lid is made in America.
