Facile da usare e accurato, serve della semplice acqua distillata per tararlo. L'ho usato per controllare lo stato del liquido refrigerante che per tanti mesi era stato rabboccato continuamente con acqua distillata. Risultato: punto di congelamento -4 °C. Sostituzione completa del liquido antigelo e nuova lettura: -36 °C, come da indicazione nell'etichetta del prodotto.

Purchased this in order to obtain a precise measurement of the freezing point of ethylene glycol coolant used in my laser systems. I wanted a way to determine the freezing point without relying on approximations taken from graphs found through searches. I've used the specific gravity float style in the past, but I didn't like that they were sealed and promoted the transfer of prior contaminants into fresh coolant mixtures.The instrument is very easy to use. It has scales for ethylene and propylene glycol - water mixtures as well as sulfuric acid - water electrolyte and (isopropanol?) - water windshield wiper fluid mixtures, so it's versatile. I cannot make a claim to its absolute accuracy, but I have to believe it's close, simply because there is so much academic literature out there regarding ethylene glycol freezing points, and devising a scale, even if empirically based, would not be that difficult.The instrument appears to be well sealed, so that thoroughly rinsing it off after use with slimy glycol will not be problematic. Calibrating the unit with DI water is very easy with the provided screwdriver. Two little plastic pipettes were also included making sample gathering very trivial. I think it was a good investment.

Haven’t used it for checking coolant yet but when I calibrated it, it was pretty close. Tool feels good and easy to use / read. So far satisfied with it.

En la mirilla hay ajuste de enfoque, a la antigua usanza pero muy efectivo. Recordar de calibrar antes con agua destilada teniendo el agua y el refractometro en temperatura ambiente.
