Haven’t used them much yet but the one I did use was sharp and spins on center in a drill press. The center punch works and it all comes in a cool metal case I was totally unaware of. Definitely worth the price.

So far these have worked as needed, but as I don't use them for anything heavy duty or daily, no idea of how long they will remain sharp enough to cut.

I'm a 78 year old woman who enjoys all home improvement projects. I needed these to install a bullet latch on my French door separating my living room from my dining room. Just the tool I needed.

The tips on these are poorly cut, so I would not want to waste time trying to start a hole in even soft steel or aluminum with these. I think they would likely burn through plastic if trying to start a hole. So they are only useful for enlarging holes that are already made. The shanks also leave much to be desired. These all have a shank with 3 flats on. That's nice for the chuck of the drill motor to grab onto, but it's not so useful for many of the ways I use step drills. In general, a 1/4 inch hex shank is very useful because the step drill can be used with an extension to reach into a variety of places. Not so with these. The smaller drills have a shank that is smaller than 1/4 inch, so it is not possible to grind them to get a 1/4" hex shank. The larger step drills have a much thicker shank and I suspect they need that for strength, so I won't be grinding them down, either. That means these will not work with extensions and that limits their usefulness for me. I have used 1 or 2 of them for enlarging holes and they seem to work for that.
