I used this on a fence with wooden post, I would not use on any other type of material. Was drilling a pilot hole for every insulator, that worked well, 1/8" bit. The included tool worked very well, made installation very quick and easy.

The installation tool is the icing on the cake. The Screw shaft is strong and long enough to give you some small range in how deeply you screw it into the post or tree (leave some room for the tree to grow out around the shaft without damaging the insulator) . The Hole in the insulator is big enough to handle many sizes of perimeter fence rope and you have to ability as you screw the insulator in to set odd angles if you need them. Great piece of equipment if you are doing electric fence with wooden posts or trees , or an sturdy wood anchor.

I had not built or maintained an electric fence for over 40 years and, so, purchased a variety of (what were, for me) strange looking insulators. These are now my favorites for using on trees (or wooden posts).

These work very well but they will break off if installed in very hard wood if over torqued.

Perfect but set drill on low or they break

The idea is better than the product. The tool to place wobbles when using it. They can break easy with a good amount of force. Horse broken the line and one of the rings.

The product is a pretty good idea. The installation tool was not though out well. If you use a two speed drill use the lower speed, the installation tool is unstable and if you use the higher speed you can potentially injure yourself. Use the lower speed and go slow and steady to get the screw started. On another note if you are installing into a hard fence post you may have the plastic eyelet spin on the metal stud causing it to slip before fully screwed in.

Love the socket tool for your drill, that comes with this set! Makes it so much easier to screw them in. Now the rings themselves are not as heavyweight as I would have liked. They do fine as long as what you are screwing into is not too terribly hard.
