These are a good alternative to a sound bar for a sxs. I have JBL 6.5" mids paired with JBL 1" tweeters. I built up the embossed area to try and build an integrated speaker box with black expanding foam. It took two applications of black foam to make a seal against the exterior door skin. It works better than free air for sure but not perfect ! I added some pyramid 2" foam blocks to help with sound control. At the end of the day I'm very happy with the end results. One thing to be aware of is these interior door panels will protrude into the cabin a bit and rub against your arm.
