I have friends and family and mail carriers that drive older Subarus for getting around rural northern Minnesota. Several of these cars have over 200,000 miles and it isn't uncommon that somebody approaches me about pullers and presses for working on wheel bearings and suspension components on their Subaru. As such, I brought this tool in as it is superior to my general-purpose ball joint set.

Full disclosure, I have not used it as of yet. I am very lucky to live in southwest and have never had too much trouble with my subaru ball joints except one that required a bit of work to get out but got it done. This is a simple tool that will make the job super easy, even for corroded ball joints in the rust belt. I believe it's a clone of a brand name tool but why spend more for a simple item. It appears well made and solid, threads are all clean and crisp. I checked the nut size with a spare stud and it is the correct size for my ball joints. I will definitely use this with next ball joint removal and recommend any subaru owner who does suspension to get it.

Nice, heavy duty ball joint puller. used this on my forester and worked like a charm. Nice and cheap too so I dont have to go and rent one from the auto parts store.

Repairing my daughter’s Forester was already challenging. A 23 year old car that has spent its entire existence in New England means many seized and corroded parts. When the lower control arm broke due to rust the biggest challenge was removing the ball joint since the new control arm came with a new ball joint pre installed. After many hours battling to remove it I learned about a specific tool created for the job. When I searched for it online I found this and quickly ordered it. However, when I tried to use it the threads connecting it to the ball joint stripped out without the ball joint budging. After further research I learned that this was a poor copy of the real tool. It looked just like it, but after getting the actual Astro pneumatic 77620 which allowed me to quickly complete the job I could see the difference in quality easily.Don’t buy this knockoff. The real tool only costs a couple of dollars more and worked perfectly for me.The only reason I’m giving this a second star is because I was able to return it and get a full refund.

Picked this up after noticing that the front end in of my sons 2006 Subaru had a bit of wander, and discovering that the ball joints needed replacing. Our salt-free, rust-free California cars probably helped, but this tool extracted the ball joints in seconds with very little effort. Made the job a breeze! Highly recommended tool if you think you'll be doing this repair!

Just used this ball joint puller on my old Forester, and man, what a time-saver! It's built solid, feels like it'll outlast my car. The sliding pin design is pretty slick - popped that stubborn ball joint out without a fuss. Definitely beats the ol' hammer and pickle fork method. Only gripe is the instructions could use some pictures for us visual learners. But hey, if you're handy enough to tackle ball joints, you'll figure it out. It's a bit pricey compared to universal tools, but for Subaru owners, it's worth every penny. Just remember to slap some oil on the threads before you go to town. All in all, it's a solid addition to my toolbox that'll save me some headaches (and knuckle skin) down the road.
