The design is good, but it barely made it through two springs. I wouldn't trust it again and it was very difficult to use, the threads were just about gone after the second spring, had just eaten themselves

Used on 87 300d had to sandwich springs to be fully seated to get in it, was scary enough with this tool, wouldn’t imagine using the hook style and passing through control arm

I couldn't find any definitive answer as to whether or not this would work on my 84 300D (W123) to remove the coil springs for lower control arm bushing replacement but am happy to report this tool works very well for that purpose and was easy to use. Would absolutely recommend to anyone doing front suspension repairs to any classic Mercedes Benz.

This is an awesome tool works as it should. I've used several different kinds and this one is by far the best I've used and it is a lot safer then the type with the hooks on them!!!! I've been a mechanic for 40 + years so yes I highly recommend this tool!!! Be safe!!

This item is a faithful copy of the original Mercedes Benz tool and works exactly the same. It compresses both rear and front MB springs safely and easily. It pays for itself the first time you use it since installing springs on MB 123-130 cars is virtually impossible without this tool.rbm

Finally broke down and bought this for doing front springs on Mercedes vehicles, after years on doing them the hard way with tools that are a.) sketchym or b.)not really suited for the job. Takes a 4 hour project down to an hour plus or minus. Used several times already, no signs of wear or strain.

I used this compressor to rebuild the front end on my 87 190e 2.3-16. I can't imagine doing the job without it. You may be able to release the springs without a compressor, but I can't imagine compressing them without it for reassembly. This compressor makes it quick and easy. Lube the threaded rod regularly and use hand tools to rotate/compress it.

Worked like a charm on my lower control arm change on the car... Did not have to worry about the shock flying out and hurting me...

This is a very nice kit. Confidence inspiring finish and strength. Threading is smooth and even. Really the only way to go for these Mercedes springs. Easy to use right out of the box with no previous experience. A real value and the job goes even quicker than McPherson strut jobs and even easier than average side compressors on my old 4 Runner. Easily worth 50% more in cost or more. Solid feeling injection molded case with HINGES and levered snap closure. Save time and work with safety and confidence.

My dilemma started on Saturday, when my j-hook macpherson spring compressor from Harbour Freight Tools could not fit in between the coils. Went to O'Reiley's and rented their spring compress, the equipment was too big for the coils. I went around getting estimates to replace my springs, 1st shop want $100 and Monday. 2nd shop said $250, ready to go, I said: "HELL NO!!!"I pulled the trigger and placed this order on Saturday afternoon, received it on Monday morning at my office, I worked on replacing my springs and this tool made it sooo easy and maked sense as to why many advice not to waster my money and just rent the tools...blah...blah...blah...This was the best $60 I've ever spend on tools, this was useful, and will serve many uses. Others that are out there may all be the same, I vouch as a verified purchase, that this tool works and was very solid.5-F'in' STARS!!!

This worked great to compress the rear springs on my 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK Convertible (W208). You load the smaller plates top and bottom of the spring by sliding them in from the side.Thread the rod up into the middle of the spring through the hole in the lower arm passing through both plates and fiddle around a lot to engage the plates with the rod. Once engaged its simple to wind the threaded rod with a ratchet (19mm) to compress the spring. I used an air ratchet, definitely NOT an impact gun.Its not easy to engage the plates with the rod, the fit is quite tight and somewhat blind. I'd haven given it 5 stars if there was some visual indications on the set to aid in set up. I think I'll use some white paint now I know how it works to make it easier to see the next time. Good quality solid product in a decent case. I'm normally pretty concerned using the exterior style compressors because I've had them slip unexpectedly but not with this, its solid and balanced.
