I don't know if I'd use these on something really large and heavy like a gazebo, but for a smaller 2x4 structure, the actual brackets seem to be pretty sturdy. The screws that came with them are of inferior quality, so I threw those directly in the trash and used my own.I'm using them to create a wooden protection frame to surround the house's water main that pops up through the walkway right by a side door and bridges about 10" before it enters the house a foot away so no one can break the pipe by hitting it with landscaping equipment or something else striking it.These are pretty versatile, especially if you don't have physical access t one corner of the post, it's a perfect solution for a 3 point anchor. Since they are 1.5", they fit on the side of a 2x4 perfectly.

The brackets are great but, the screws are crap. I mean these are for attaching a post to a deck or stairs. I bought an 8 pack, which sent some good screws (¼" hex head x 1½" long) but only enough to do 6 posts and to mount the brackets to the stairs required 5/16" black lag screws, which had to be purchased separately and are kind of expensive ($11 for 25). Then I needed 4 more brackets and they came with some little phillips head screws which I wouldn't hang a picture with. Still, the brackets are sturdy, good looking and hold my 4x4 posts very well after using the correct fasteners, so...3 stars. I'd still buy them again.

I used it to stabilize a bunk bed, but it would have dozens or more uses. Screws are a bit soft, but I usually use my own.
