There is a safety cable that connects to this device. It slides thru a "chamber" and prevents the key from being removed unless the shifter is in PARK. This chamber was not successfully casted in the correct size, thus preventing the removal of the key. I had to disassemble the repair, slightly drill the chamber out to make it larger so the cable could freely move to solve the problem. Project took about 75 min total because some of the torx screws were tedious to remove without doing substantial disassembly.
