The product works well and translated disk UUIDs correctly so I didn't have to reconfigure drive mounts. However, the other review is correct in that it needs cooling. It overheated to the point of my server crashing multiple times before I realized what was happening. A fan should definitely come stock on the heatsink. I 3D printed a fan bracket that mounts to an empty PCIe breakout slot, solving the issue.

I use this adapter as a passthrough device in ProxMox for TrueNas scale, managing 8x16Tb drives; the performance on this product is really solid for those looking at homelab and data services, and the I've been very happy with the quality of the card as it arrived. Simple plug and go, using it in a Gigabyte TRX40 Aorus Extreme. The performance on this card makes everything work exactly as I expected. This card initializes quickly and I've had no issues at all in our configuration. Excellent for those wanting to put former workstations into full use as data storage.

I measured 93.7C at the heatsink with an infrared thermometer. But with a fan it keeps under 40c. Treat the card's chip like a CPU and keep it cooled. In my opinion the manufacturer should just include a fan, even if it costs a $1 or $2 more.
