This is the third VSS hi bought to get my speedometer working. The first two were cheap aftermarket ones and did not work. I decided to buy a genuine GM VSS and it worked. Don’t waste your money on the cheap ones.

1997 C1500 4.3L V6. 06/19/2024. I had to start, stop and drive the truck a few times. Transmission now shifting normal. The speedometer, tachometer and gear indicator light are working also. Disconnecting the battery before installing. That may help the ECM recognize the new speed sensor.

Amazon says this won't fit my 2009 Silverado 1500, 5.3, but GM Parts online says otherwise.

Was having sporadic fluctuations of both speedo & tack Google suggested speed sensor &/or too much fluid could cause same problem. Ordered part, came in several days. In meantime checked fluid level & found was way OVER the XXXX marks on dip stick. Sucked about 20 oz fluid out via filler/dipstick tube. Problem solved. Will install sensor later on 97 Chevy 1500 with 225K miles. Thanks

Perfect fit for 2004 trailblazer LS 4.2 I6. You will loose no fluid when changing this out. The old one is in there pretty good, so after you take out the bolt, just pull strait out. I did use a screw driver to lightly pry under the metal bracket and it popped out. I put a little tranny fluid on the new VSS seal. I hear that you can use motor oil too. Don't do a lot, just enough to give it a little lube to slip into the hole easier without messing anything up.
