Nothing to grab onto with a wrench to raise the plate, so kind of a pain, so hard to snug up against anything.

My fault for not looking closely but after 40 yrs of using floor jacks I assumed this was a "jack". It's not, this cannot be adjusted as the load and stand settles. Normally you can tighten 1/4 turn or so under pressure immediately to make it tight, or several times over a matter of days or weeks to adjust for settling or to raise the load slightly. An install to hold extra load on a porch is wonky because after you have prepped a base you have to coax and use a hammer to get it snug but you can't turn it tighter. Going to return mine and get actual jacks

These work great for added support for our porch where our hot tub went.
