Product Description

American Photonics Lens: Approved by Laser Experts and Manufacturers
For the best-infrared optics, we choose CVD ZnSe from the USA. It is the best material. PVD ZnSe and GaAs from China are of low quality. OMTech and AP laser specialists tested and approved our focal lenses on their machines.
Introducing the new 18 mm Lens:

A 100% American-Made Option with Glue, Aluminum Mount, and Better Thermal Conductivity
1. Labeled Lenses: No More Guesswork with Focal Length
You don’t have to guess the focal length of your lenses because we label them.
2. Position Your Lenses with Confidence Using BIM IN Markings
You can easily position our lenses because they have BIM IN markings.
3. The Benefits of Glue for the Lens: No O-ring, No Stress, and No Power Loss
The glue keeps the lens stress-free and eliminates the need for an O-ring. Our lens prevents you from over-tightening it, causing power loss, lens overheating, and beam distortion.
4. Clean the Lens with Ease and Protection Using the Aluminum Mount
You can easily protect and hold the lens when cleaning with the aluminum mount.

Top 10 reasons why a lens fails?
1- Not cleaning the lens often enough.
2- Water in your air assist.
3- Oil in your air assist.
4- Accidentally left off the air assist.
5- Overtightening your lens (not using an O-ring).
6- Using cleaning products containing water or dies.
7- Poor beam alignment causing the head to overheat.
8- Dropping or chipping the lens while cleaning it.
9- Use of cheap nonlaser grade ZnSe.
10- Poor coating and optical quality.
Upgrades to consider.
- Good air compressor
- Desiccant filter or air dryer
- Coalescing filter
- Automatic air off and on
- Easy clean high quality glued lens from American Photonics

1.5-Inch Lens for High-Resolution Engraving
· Our optional 1.5-inch lens is perfect for achieving high-resolution engraving.
· It can easily achieve 500 DPI resolutions.
· Is ideal for small font or fine detail engraving.
· The lens produces a spot size of 0.003 to 0.0065 inches in diameter
· Is also an excellent cutting lens for thin materials that are less than 1/16 inch thick.

2-Inch Lens for Versatile Engraving and Cutting
·The 2-inch lens is a standard lens found on most laser systems
·Perfect for both engraving and cutting applications. And can easily achieve 400 DPI.
·The lens produces a spot size of 0.004 to 0.007 inches in diameter.
· It is an excellent option for a wide range of projects
·Choose this versatile lens for precise and efficient production with your laser system.

2.5-Inch Lens for Common Laser System Use
· The 2.5-inch lens is the most used option for laser systems and is suitable for both engraving and cutting applications.
· It is recommended for graphics with medium detail and resolution.
· With a thickness of about 63.5mm, it is the perfect choice for most laser projects.
· Choose this versatile lens for precise and efficient production with your laser system.

4-Inch Lens for Specialized Engraving and Cutting
· The 4-inch lens is a specialty option typically used for engraving within recessed areas such as bowls or plates.
· It produces a focused beam over a longer vertical distance, making it ideal for this type of application.
· It can easily achieve 300 DPI
· Choose this specialized lens for precise and efficient production with your laser system.

How to select the correct lens for the job and optical setup

Optical setup
The best possible optical setup for your machine and the truth about the compound lens system.
I computer model and manufacture Infrared optical systems. The best possible setup would start with perfect beam alignment. Poor beam alignment combined with a multiple-element system (compound lens) could give you a worse focal point than a single-element system (single lens). The second most crucial thing is optical quality. Differences like material, edge thickness variation, sphericity (how perfect each radius is), and surface quality. These are particularly important if you want the best setup for your machine. Errors in the optics are compounded in multiple-element systems. Compound lens systems are better on paper. But if you work first on beam alignment and get the best possible optics for your system, you save money. After focusing on beam alignment and optical quality, your engraving quality is as good as Epilog or Trotec. They are single-element systems. Here are some backup links to what I am saying.
