When I bought these, the marked price was about 30% lower than today, so they were a great bargain. I'd still buy them at today's price, too. JJ are a great tube brand; Slovakian-made in the former Tesla Electric factory (they can't or don't use that name any more).

[Used in a Ceriatone "Dumble Overdrive Special" style amp substituting for 6V6gt.]Outstanding cleans: nice crisp highs and a bit more bass than I heard with my old-stock (other brand) 6v6gt tubes which had plenty of life left in them... just chalk it up to design differences? The new JJ tubes even have more clean headroom and they're a little quieter at high volume = more on the top and bottom! That surprised me!The trans-conductance matching was perfect (confirmed on my own tube tester and in-circuit) and this let me dial the bias in right where I wanted it. This matching is especially important to avoid clipping from a tube that is out-of-range, otherwise you'll compromise your bias setting with one tube too high and the other low. I set these quite a bit "colder" (19.5mv) than the prior set ("straddling" @ 24mv) but they JJs showed no signs of clipping on the oscilloscope and were pleasing to my ear.Note that these JJ 6v6s tubes are physically larger (longer/taller) than typical 6v6gt tubes by about 1" (2.2cm). For most it won't be a problem but if you've *very* tight clearances in your amp chassis it might be an issue so please be aware.I'd rate this tube set + matching service six stars, if I could. I'm tempted to buy a spare set now just to put them aside for the future.

When I ordered my Super Champ X2 about a year or two so ago, it sounded good, but the preamp tube was causing terrible rattling noises when I played notes on the low E string on the first, second and third frets. It sort of dampered my enjoyment of the amp even though I used it a good bit, but when I got these tubes along with a 12ax7 preamp from JJ Electronics, the Super Champ X2 seemed like to be whole new beast. I switched the tubes and biased them, so 20 volts were going through each of these JJ tubes since the stock tubes were running cold. The minute I plugged in my guitar, turned the amp on and started playing, I fell in love. The sound was the signature Fender clean I heard in my favorite tracks, and the sound was infinitely better than how it was before. The rattle was gone, the tubes ran hotter and the amp sounded bigger and better than it used to. I expected maybe a slight change and improvement from changing the stock tubes and biasing the amp, but the improvement was miles ahead of what I even imagined. It's helped my love of playing guitar to grow. I firmly believe that what helps people keep playing is a great sound and these tubes offer that improvement to your tone if you're looking to replace old tubes. I highly recommend these.

There might be better tubes for your application, but for the money, and the increase in audio quality from stock tubes, JJ's are hard to beat. I replace all the stock, cheap tubes (in new amplifiers I acquire) with JJ's. I have yet to find one that is not better than the cheap tubes I replace. After I make this swap, I can take my time sorting through other brands (and other tubes in some instances) finding the right match for each amp. Sometimes, the JJ's are the best fit. Either way, they all sound better than cheap stock tubes. This is geared toward less expensive, mass production guitar amplifiers. NOT boutique, or some of the better, lesser mass produced amps (Egnater). I recommend them.

I recently acquired a 1965 Fender Deluxe Amp. After going thru and thouroly cleaning, I noticed one of the output tubes, 6v6, was visibly blown. So, I started researching replacement tubes online at all of the music outlets. Then, for some reason, I happened to search AMAZON and was happily surprised that they carry all sorts or tubes and musical gear! I've read all kinds of mixed reviews about all the tube brands, including the JJ's... Then I discovered that, like guitar strings, there are only a few manufacturers of vacum tubes left in the world... The price was right on the JJ's so I gave them a shot. All I can say is, all of the hype I've heard all of my 30+ years of being a professional guitarist, about there is nothing like playing thru a 65 Fender Deluxe... Was all very true!! I installed the JJ's, plugged the old girl in, and was and still amazed at the most awesome guitar tone I've ever "played" thru! Getting that "tube tone" is no problem for me with all of the great Line 6 and other emulation technology amps on the market, But, nothing can compare to the "FEEL" of playing thru tubes! The JJ's work and sound great!! Also, at an affordable price.

A while back I got the book "How to Hot Rod Your Fender Amp". In it, it says that the recent(90's and up)Fender Blues Deluxe and Hotrod Deluxe amps can be modded to take high power 6V6's made by JJ and Electro Harmonix. My stock Blues Deluxe amp was 40 watts and was running the tubes biased cold from the factory to make the tubes last a long time. The problem is running them cold makes the amp kind of sterile and "unpushed". I had these installed and the amp biased correctly for them and my amp became much more touch sensitive at higher volumes. The Blues Deluxe's preamp is based on a tweed Fender Bassman so to me I have a "Bassman" running into a Deluxe output stage. I changed the stock speaker to a Celestion Vintage 30 and the amp is much nicer on stage. These tubes have shown no signs of any problems; not glowing red or anything and I think it was a very good mod. I'm guessing it's about 22 watts now and is plenty loud for any indoor gig. The Celestion will handle 60 watts so should be safe from being blown out by the amps much lower wattage so I don't mind turning it up a little more.
