***************UPDATE***************Aneng customer service replaced the defective multimeter with a new one that works perfectly. One of the benefits of the Aneng multimeter over others is that it will read milliamperes; not all do. Also, I received the replacement via Amazon delivery within 2 - 3 days after they promised to ship; excellent customer service too.**************************Unfortunately, the Aneng Digital Multimeter did not work out for me.As an around the home DIY’er, my needs from a multimeter are basic: checking A/C and D/C voltages and current. We use a lot of batteries for home and hobby devices, computers, etc., and I also use a multimeter to check at wall plugs and the fuse box, along with the health of our automobile batteries.First off, the D/C mode of the Aneng Multimeter never worked. I was able to check it against another meter I own that I have confirmed to give accurate readings. When checking both lithium and nicad batteries with the Aneng meter, whether it’s set on “Auto” or I’ve selected the D/C voltage setting manually, it gives no reading. The meter did move when checking a healthy car battery, however I got a reading of just over 1V, while the working meter gave the correct 12V+ reading. My use of the Aneng meter was in accordance with the instructions given in the user manual; I feel confident it’s not working properly.Using the probes to test household A/C voltage I get a reading of 114V with the Aneng meter, and 120V with the alternate meter. I don’t know what to make of the disparity in readings. However, at this point, I have more trust in the alternate meter. In addition, it is mentioned in both the Multimeters title and the description that the meter is capable of “NCV,” an acronym for “non-contact voltage detection.” NCV isn’t mentioned anywhere in the user manual. My alternate meter has a specific mode setting for NCV and emits a beeping sound and blinking bars on its LCD screen when voltage has been detected. In the case of the Aneng I was able to get low voltage readings with A/C-v manually selected and the red probe held 3 – 4 mm from a source wire known to be live. But since there are no instructions for an NCV setting included, I don’t know if the meter was behaving accurately and in accordance with its design. That said, it does seem to indicate a live cord or wire with this setting only. It gives no indication when in the “Auto” mode or any other mode.Since the D/C mode of this meter doesn’t work, the meter as a whole is of no use to me. It’s quite possible that I received a defective meter, but as such I cannot recommend it. The manual mentions a fuse to be found under the battery cover, but I found no evidence of a fuse or a reset button anywhere on the unit. Furthermore, the incompleteness of the user manual is another factor that in my opinion, leaves much to be desired. The Aneng Multimeter is delivered with a zippered storage case, an extra set of leads that includes threaded, interchangeable connectors, along with alligator clips.

This digital multimeter works great and includes quite a few different types of test leads and a case. I had several old digital multimeters, but none of them could measure capacitance and they did not have clip-on adapters for the test leads. This meter is a major upgrade for me at a very reasonable price compared to other similar multimeters.

This multimeter is as accurate as my large DMM. The meter is very light and small enough to fit in a jacket or large shirt pocket. I'm not fond of the time and temp reading since the meter must be on all the time and it has only 2 AAA cell batteries that drain quickly. It would be nice if it had either a plug to connect a power pack to it or use at least 2 C cell batteries. If it weren't for the choice of battery size, I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4.
