I bought the locks because they seemed ideal for my stand alone garage. As I was installing one of the locks the key became stuck in the lock, I tried graphite lubricant with no success . I took it to a lock smith and he freed the key using Houdini lock product. I got that lock installed and the other lock developed the same issue. I ordered Houdini and spent the evening getting the key to work on both sides of lock. I checked the first lock that jammed and it is again jamming with key getting stuck. Now I have the holes in the garage door and I am not sure I can trust the locks to work properly. The bolt on one lock sticks out a 1/2 inch further in the closed position than on the other lock after I got both locks functional.

I found these UK garage door locks after a long search for something suitable in the US came up empty. These being key operated both inside and outside were what I was looking for. I wanted a back up mechanical lock in case the electric opener got accidentally triggered to open. Too much crime in the area to leave a garage door open for any length of time. These are great locks although they are expensive. The chromed escutcheons are especially nice. The cross style keys (3) seem to provide excellent resistance to picking, although a drilling attack I expect would not be that hard since the lock core is all brass. The throw bolt is disappointing though, being brass. It engages the stiff steel door track in order to lock. On occasion the electric opener got triggered while the lock was locked. Sometimes the lock stops the electric opener, but on some occasions this has not happened -- the electric opener has powered the door open right past the locked lock. I realize adjusting the opener sensitivity theoretically solves this problem, but it was set reasonably sensitive. The hole drilled in the track was a perfect fit, so that was not the problem.I will be securing the track more rigidly with a metal L bracket and hopefully that will completely solve the problem but I feel the whole issue might have been averted if the product had a stainless steel throw bolt rather than brass which is relatively soft. The extra stiffness of steel would have registered as greater resistance to the electric opener and I expect would have stopped it every time.I hope the manufacturer will consider retiring the brass bolt and using stainless steel henceforth. Another upgrade would be to have some stainless steel pins in the lock core rather than brass to making drilling out the core more difficult. The concept of these locks is great, and the materials and workmanship are very good, but a couple of changes as I outlined could make these much better security propositions.

These locks look like they are made well. Except they will not work on my shop door as I have a steel Janus door. This was my fault so now I have two locks that I cannot use (costs just as much to send them back over the pond). They are too wide to fit in the "grooves" of my 944 Janus style roll-up door. I guess I could get out my disc grinder and grind away to make it fit flat against the door however, I do not wish to go down that road. So with that said, I gave it 3 stars.UPDATE: So was about to send this item to a yard sale and decided to gave it one more try. The second time around, I was able to install it successfully I am happy to say. It was actually very simple. I made a 90 deg bracket to mount on top of the rail. Also added a spacer to lock to clear the door that fits in the "valley" of the coro door. See pics.Seems to be very sturdy installed. This building can still be broken into no doubt, but it would make a lot of noise breaking in. Only small negative is the keys are a little challenging. Now that I finally had some time to resolve it all out, I will give it a 5.

Installed on my garage door about a year ago, stopped working and key is stuck in it. Worked great when it was working but I would not expect to have to change it out every year.

NO BETTER WAY TO INSURE YOU GARAGE DOOR IS SECURE. THERE IS ANOTHER COMPANY THAT SELLS A SIMILAR ITEM BUT THIS ASEC IS MUCH CHEAPER AND DOES THE EXACT SAME. MY NEIGHBOR HAD THEIR GARAGE DOOR BROKEN INTO EVEN THOUGH THEY BOUGHT THE HIGHEST SECURITY LOCKS. WITH THESE UNITS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A THIEF TO EVEN GET TO BECAUSE THEY ARE MOUNTED ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR AND THE THICK BOLTS SLIDE INTO THE GARAGE DOOR FRAME WHICH UNLESS YOU HAVE A LARGE GAP BETWEEN DOOR AND FRAME, THEY CAN'T GET TO THEM EITHER.

We have been searching for this item and it was only available in the UK and not shipped to the US. However, we found it here on Amazon and it works great. The installation was pretty easy and it functions as specified. Thank you for offering such a great item.

Seem very nice once installed and seem like a good product for the price. A hole layout template would be a nice addition and make install a bit easier. Despite the complaints about the size of the keys in other reviews, they were actually on the short side for my through door application but I was able to make them work with some minor modification. They'd have been a 4 or 5 star with a drill hole template, and I have little doubt the door is securely locked at this point.

I just installed these today. They have made my two car wide one piece garage door very secure. The installation is a little involved but the fit of everything is excellent. There are two downsides.1- The keys are huge. This is not a key you would want to carry with you all the time.2- Metric sizes. This lock comes from England. I used a 11/32" bit to replace the 11mm and 8 mm suggested bits. 1/2" to replace the 13mm. 11/16" to replace the 17mm.I looked all over for a good garage lock solution, and Amazon was the only supplier I could find with this lock or anything like it.
