Is a great sounding mic, that’s for sure, with a little EQ you can make it sound as a incredible tool for podcast… but…Is too long, so using it as a podcast mic turned to be really hard for me for a matter of space, if you have the space in your setup is great, if not… the AT875R from the same company and cheaper is a great choice.

Love this microphone for video recording! Audio-Technica builds a solid microphone with great sound. Model AT8035 delivers on the street or in the studio. I use this primarily with the Neewer extension boom either hand held or on a C-stand boom in the studio.

I've been podcasting for 16 years using many microphones. I recently did a side-by-side comparison with the popular Sennheiser MKE 600. I found the Audio-Technica superior in every single way: clarity, detail, and presence. For $100 less expensive, and twice the sound quality, the Audio-Technica AT9005 blows the Sennheiser MKE 600 away.

This is my first shotgun microphone and out of curiosity I wanted to try this one the extra long length reminds me of the old school longer microphones of yesteryear needless to say the battery power is great for those who don't have phantom powered mixers and the handling noise is very minimal and manageable it has a windscreen already applied and after several preliminary tests it has a great overall studio quality sound and I may update this review more after I've used it more but it's very lightweight so that's why I think it's a great handheld microphone now I understand why they used these kind of condenser microphones on Some TV shows and especially Game shows I recommend adding this to your mic closet it's affordable and worth every penny

I have a modest size video production company. I tested this microphone for a client and was pleasantly surprised. Pick up pattern gives you and extra 18 inches from subject. Reasonably low noise. Nice ambient noise rejection. I decided to buy one for myself. I use it with a sound devices Mix Pre 3.

Well made but the levels are to low and audio a bit tinny. I like the Sennheiser mke-600, it has good levels so you can lower the camera's preamps for better quality audio and it's not tinny sounding.

Debated between this mic and the NTG2 before ultimately buy the 8035. Very happy with the quality of recording that I've been able to get from this mic when paired with my H6 field recorder. The longer effective reach in comparison to the NTG2 has been invaluable and was a major reason why I decided to go with the 8035.

I have owned this mic for four years now, and it is a real workhorse for boom mic applications and mounting it out-of-frame for interview situations. The capture of a mic gets thinner with distance (known as proximity effect), but the polar pattern of this mic mitigates the effect and prevents the voice capture from getting too thin when used, maximum 5 feet from the talent. Three or four feet distance is near perfect, and the mic's pickup of transitions, dynamic range, and consonants is superior to any lavalier mic. The signal to noise ratio is acceptable. Currently I am using it for a voiceover application at a distance of 6 inches, because it has less proximity effect than a studio mic, and retains a conversational quality as opposed to a voice-of-god quality of a regular voiceover. At the same time, the short distance creates an excellent signal-too-noise ratio that prevents the need for noise reduction software.
