Greetings, I purchased two of these mic devices. The depth worked well. The only problem is the hooking nose for the front of the cabinet will not fit onto my Marshall 2x12 cab. It's not wide enough. Bummer. I bought two. I'll have to maybe sell them to my friends who have smaller depth on the nose portion of the cabinet up front!??😏

I bought a pair of these hoping to use them on a splawn 4x12 in my studio but I struggled with them when trying to get the mic placement just right. There really is no adjustability here. They say to get. the gooseneck extension for more adjustment so I did and it's terrible. It just wants to spring back straight instead of staying where you set it. Totally useless.I ended up just going back to the much less expensive and much more adjustable regular small boom mic stands.

My vyper 3 amp finally has sound coming through the soundboard instead of the amp itself.

I found this after looking for a regular stand for my Shure SM57 to be used on my amp for recording. This thing blew my mind! It has a great combination of sturdiness and flexibility, you don't have to tight it (and leave an ugly mark on you cab) to have it on your sweet spot, simply let the gravity to the job, the grabber will have a slight inclination after it grabs to your amp with the spring clamp, I just played around with it and it took me like 40 seconds to get it right where I wanted it. I love the fact that the spring clamp system is not super tight but after the mic sits it will remain in that position until another adjustment is made.

These devices are pretty good but a few small changes would make them better. The standard end where you attach a mic is not very useful for anything that isn't shaped like an SM57 (or i5). Also the 1lb recommended limit for mic weight means that it is tough to use with heavier mics. I would love it if it was a bit more sturdy and came with boom adapter. The stock adapter generally works well enough but depending on depth of cabinet from grill to edge etc. the stock end isn't as usefil as it could be. I ended up getting mic clip adapters and Ultimate micro booms so I could use 421's and SM7s for my set up. That is pushing the clamp beyond recommendations but so far they have been holding up. Just a few changes would make these useful for a bunch of different mics. I do find that the CabGrabber suits my needs a little better than Z-Bars but my adaptations mean they are not as low profile as the Z-bar. But that is my fault.
