It's an excellent file. It cuts annealed steel exactly as you would hope it would. Seems to be tempered properly. We'll see how it holds its sharpness, but my other Bahcos have been performing well for several years.

I use this file for sharpening crosscut saws which are frequently rusty. The rusty blades can really dull a poor quality file. These Bahco files seem to hold up reasonably well especially compared to the new Nicholson files I have used. Old NOS files probably do better but are hard to find now. Bahco files seem to be only a little more expensive. I can easily file multiple crosscut saws with a file. Unless I find a large supply of NOS files I plan to stick with Bahco.

Used this to finish cut a bevel on a machete and some shovels and it cuts well and quickly. No noticeable wear on the teeth either. I definitely recommend you get the Bahco 9-486-07-1P Ergo Number-07 handle to make using the file more comfortable.Way better than the made-in-Mexico Nicholson files I tried before.I think I've found my new go-to file brand. For what would be considered 'normal/average' use the file is fine but I required it to be very flat and unfortunately it had a bit of a twist in it along its length. Too much so to be useful to me for a precision job. I would imagine this would be much the same with any brand of file. No hassle with refund though.
