This tub & shower spout is the slip type unit that fits on the half-inch copper pipe. Unscrew the set screw under the spout near the wall. Twist the spout as it is pulled off of the copper pipe. Install after watching the video that shows how to replace the old spout on Amazon.com It's so easy anyone can do it after watching the video. Clean off the copper pipe, grease it with some silicone grease and slowly push the spout on until it is against the wall. Tighten the set screw. That's it.

This is a very basic tub spout. It gets the job done, but the appearance and finish are pretty basic and the build quality is not what I would call robust by any means. But, it's on par with other "builder grade" tub spouts, and is priced similar to what they cost.Although no installation instructions are provided, it's a simple process if you've replaced one in the past. If not, there are many videos on how to do it. This is a slip-on connection for pipes that are not threaded at the end. You'll want to check to see if the one you're replacing is a slip on or threaded on before purchasing. Be sure to clean the stub out well before installing this to ensure the o-rings on the adapter make a good seal around the pipe. It's a fine option for a tub that doesn't get used much as a shower, or for uses such as a guest bath that doesn't get daily use. If, however, you use the diverter daily (or multiple times per day) a better grade one would be a better option for a longer service life. Four stars.

I was excited to get a new tub spout diverter because my current one always got stuck even when new when attempting to divert to shower. Well this unit had a smooth pull tab which is great. Chrome finish looked good. Shape was good. I installed it and .... it was shorter than MY Kohler unit. Left a gap at wall A my pipe is a threaded end. This unit has an internal plastic receiver to connect easily to non threaded pipe. My pipe end is threaded so I used some pliers and unscrewed this plastic converter piece out. Didn't need that and didn't need the set screw and metal ring either. Luckily this unit has a threaded female end for me.When I threaded it onto my pipe clockwise the until the end a half inch or so gap existed at the tile wall. I decided to keep this as inscuffed my old tub spout when removing it with a wrench. I went to a big box store and got a thicker escutcheon plate for about $5. It almost closed the gap as it was very loose. I ended up doubling my old escutcheon under the new escutcheon to better filled gap tighter. What a pain and added cost.
