Have used so many of these to create Button Boxes for my computer flight simulator and as dedicated controllers for many computer games. Simple to use with a PC, just build and plug and play. Cheaper than using Arduino controllers when only switches are needed.

Unusual configuration: microprocessor is active high inputs, so the "bus" that is common to each switch is +5vdc. It will be very easy for an errant screw / screwdriver etc to short to wrong area and destroy the board. Also, the 5pin joystick connector is labeled as GROUND. This is incorrect, it is actually 5vdc, there is not ground present on the connector. The other 4 pins are logic inputs that are pulled low. That being said, it is working well for me. The encoder draws 35mA or so, switch inputs draw .5mA (Half mA) when input has +5vdc applied.Application is on an Android tablet, which doesn't have any kind of gaming software installed. As such, the 12 switches are 100% usable, and mappable. The joystick switches, on the other hand, are invisible to the tablet. Incidentally, both joystick inputs are mirrored / common to each other. If was able to get joystick to work, would gain an additional 4 switches. Dont worry about the Red / Blue light (Mode indicator) or the Turbo, Auto, Clr (Clear) inputs if you are just using the board for its 12 switch inputs.I was disappointed in board condition. There is residue to some sort of flux remover (?) everywhere. At one time, board had 3 pin connectors, now has 2. 3rd pin was for driving LED lights located on/in switches. The supplied USB-A to USB-B cable appears to be of decent quality, no complaints there. The 2pin connector cables fit secure in their respective sockets. The only thing that I would have liked to see is some sort of manual, even an included slip of paper, explaining what each of the Mode, Turbo, Auto, and Clr buttons do, as well as the relationship between the 2 joystick inputs. The availablity of a config file would have been extremely helpful.Would I buy it again? Knowing what I know now, yes. If I had not found the other information as soon as I did, then I would have returned in frustration.

I had my doubts that this would work because nowhere in the description or in any videos I watched on Youtube did anyone use this setup for a Pandora's Box JAMMA arcade unit. I want to share here because I hope it confirms it for some others who are having trouble figuring it out too. I plan on rebuilding a real, original TMNT arcade cabinet and wanted a more reliable and cheaper way of doing it then hunting down an original game main PCB board. I plugged a powered USB 4 port to the main Pandora's Box unit and from there I've hooked up two of these encoders and wired up the buttons and joysticks for player 3 and 4. It took some tinkering to figure out exactly how to configure the extra buttons in the Pandora's Box, but now it works perfectly!I also tested these on my laptop and they did just fine here too, definitely no delay! Everything included with the encoders is high quality and seems durable. My only gripe is a small one, that being the included wires are short, but the fact that they even include the wires is very nice and handy. Overall for the price paid, the value is very high here!
