Cheaply made. Threads don’t screw on to PL259. Antenna is GARBAGE. 1/4 wave inside the vehicle works better. A coat hanger would be better. Total Junk!

I decided to go with this style antenna on my 23 f150 due to the body is made of aluminum and mag mounts won’t work. It was easy to mount and has a nice rubber pad to prevent scratches on your vehicle. And considering the size of the antenna, it actually has good range. I was impressed

Definitely not a high gain antenna but it's compact and does the job for my APRS rig. I'd go with a full sized antenna if I was planning on making a lot of contacts or needed a higher level or reliability. Most important for me was to get the antenna outside the car. Functions about the same as my HT antenna but being outside makes all the difference.

Got this antenna with not much in the way of expectations and have been quite pleasantly surprised. Installed on the edge of the hood of my '21 Dodge Ram pickup. Mounting could not be easier with the lip mount easily fitting over the edge of the hood and the set screws seem to hold it in place securely. I had to cut the UHF connector off the coax to get it routed through the vehicle to the driver's seat where the dual band radio is mounted. On stripping the coax to install another connector, I was disappointed to find what appeared to be very thin, flimsy braided conductor. I installed anyway and was pleasantly surprised again at the quality of the connection. I was immediately able to contact (xmit and rcv) on a repeater that is about 10 miles away, on the other side of my house and over a hill. Signal reports have been good and I really don't think I could ask for more. I will probably order a Compactenna at some point in the future just to see if it's better than this one (I've heard it is) but don't feel any urgency to spend that much more money given how well this antenna is working so far. Good buy, excellent value.
