The plant itself arrived healthy and was Undamaged. With that aspect , I’m happy with it. However, it was advertised to come in a 3” clay pot. It did not. It came in a plastic pot instead. In addition to the advertisement saying it would come in a clay pot, my invoice said it was in a clay pot as part of the charge description of my purchase. I find that insulting and dishonest. The plant is great. The sellers morals are questionable. That’s why the : star rating.

When I first received this, the box and the plant were both demolished and unsalvageable. I was so disappointed because I was looking froward to adding this to my collection. I contacted the seller and within 2 days I had a replacement in my hands! I was so impressed with the quickness to resolve my problem and the willingness of the seller to work with me. The second plant was absolutely perfect!!! It matches the black shade of the one in the picture perfectly and was in terrific shape! I LOVE it!! Will most definitely be ordering from this seller in the future! If you are on the fence about buying this plant, do yourself a favor and just do it, you won't regret it! Such an awesome addition to any collection and absolutely beautiful!!! 5 stars for both the plant and the seller!!!

As you can see from my pic, it doesn’t look good. To be fair I ordered it in the dead of winter and feel like something happened in transport. I water when the soil is dry (picture was taken just before watering) and it appears that it might be getting a second chance and many of the bottom leaves shriveled up and fell off but the new growth seems promising. The window that it is next to is super sunny and warm in the summer so maybe in a few months I can amend my review but for now this is all I know.

I am very happy with this unique and rare colored succulent! I would like to say that it was well packaged and it arrived in good condition. The plant arrived pretty healthy - especially considering it was without sun for a few days and shipped in colder weather (40s in GA). The lower leaves were pretty dry and shriveled so I removed them. It seems that most reviews say their plant arrived the same way. The soil it came in was pretty moist so I didn’t water it for 5 days. I repotted it 2 days after that (so one week after it arrived). It started looking much healthier after it was deadheaded and repotted. Not that it was terribly unhealthy to start with, but many plants experience a sort of shock from shipping and they just need a little TLC to thrive. The plant arrived a beautiful deep red/black color. The new growth is a bit lighter which is to be expected. But I believe the color will deepen again as it ages, and starts to get more full sun in the summer months. Succulents tend to be branded as “easy” to care for. However, they are only easy to care for if you know what the plant needs. And not all succulents need the same care. This plant needs fast draining soil, lots of sun, infrequent watering, and a good amount of moisture in the air. If you can care for the plant in that way I am sure you will be pleased with this beautiful and rare colored succulent as it continues to grow in your home!

This plant had absolutely no vitality. Half the leaves had fallen off and I believe it was a combination of the packaging and the quality of the plant. Why bother filling the box with styrofoam peanuts (which can’t even be recycled and only pollute the planet) if you’re going to shove the plant in a plastic bag, STRANGLE it with rubber bands and then shove that in a paper bag that is shoved in the styrofoam. The rubber bands weren’t wrapped around the stem but wrapped around the top of the plant/leaves. But that wasn’t the only reason the leaves fell off. Some of the ones that were still on the plant fell off with the slightest touch. It was a very anemic plant.

ETA 8/22: It's a nice color, has grown a bit taller, but not fuller. It gets sun + growlights, so not sure why. But it seems otherwise healthy and I think it's pretty so changed rating.First review 7/31:It was a little smashed from shipping, but seemed healthy. Looked good. The only problem was that it came in wet soil. Being a newbie who has seen how much disagreement there is over best practices, I wasn't sure if i should just leave it alone and let it dry out, or if I should repot immediately. I decided to leave it alone.24 hours later, literally ALL the lower leaves were shriveled and falling off. The soil was still pretty wet, so I removed it to let the roots dry out for a day. Then I repotted in high drainage soil.I have not yet watered it, because I suspect the cause is overwatering + stress from being shipped. I'm going to give it a little more time, then water, then update review. This probably won't be much help to a newbie like myself, since I'm just speculating, but I imagine that an experienced planter can probably use this review to determine the plants quality. Hopefully.

I received this plant about 3 weeks ago and it's doing great. I live in Rochester, NY and rolled the dice on it surviving the shipping in the well below freezing temps, and it did great. It arrived in a box surrounded by foam packing peanuts which I'm sure helped prevent it from getting damaged. It even sat outside by the door for a couple of hours before I got it inside. The plant arrived healthy and only looked a little stressed (some of the leaves looked a bit shriveled and folded in) but that went away after a couple of days and is now growing very well. It came in the pot shown in the picture (drip tray not included), and aside from trimming some of the lower leaves and starting to train it to face toward the side (and a few weeks of growth), it arrived looking just like it you see here.Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone looking for a Black Rose Tree.
