I got this as a gift for a friend that has just started to do some adventuresome traveling. The size is good pocket size, the cover offers great protection. It has good weight to it making it feel of good quality. The antique finish is well done and the saying is very appropriate, the compass was very well received.

Got this for my bf cause he and I both love lord of the rings and he needed a compass for school. He loved it and also liked the little faux(?) leather pocket it comes in. There's a little sheen feeling over the surface of the compass but other than that it's great! It even has a stopper so you can keep the needle from moving and damaging while it's in your pocket.

Hands get that awful metal smell after manipulating it, and pouch looks very cheap. However, it does work very well and the old-fashioned design and inscription look pretty.

this compass actually has a feature that most don't. it has a little lever on the side that when flipped, locks the needle in place so that you can just toss it in your pack without worry of damaging the needle due to it being tossed around inside the compass. the engraving on the outside is very nice. it also came with a leather pouch which is a little gimmicky however, it is real solid leather. that is really nice because i am an avid hater of fake leather. that was a Suprise to me because usually these types of things tend to have fake leather Acessories.

This is such a neat little compass! I got it for my son and I think he's going to love it; it's heavy and feels quality, and the aesthetics are spot on. It feels like a real explorer/adventure item. I know I would have treasured this as a child!
