When it comes to wood trains you can always get more quantity on Amazon but as far as quality brio is second to none. Will last for years. Super sturdy farm set for any age.

Timeless. We gave this farm set to our granddaughter together with all the pieces we gave to our daughter when she was young this Christmas Most of it is about 30 years old and is as good as new. Old and new pieces work together perfectly. This train set got many hours of play back in the day - especially when neighbor Children and cousins came over to play. Many now “grown ups” remember playing with our train in the basement from years ago!

In this high tech world , an old fashioned toy is a good gift with good intentions. It is base. It does nothing - in this electronic world. But it does everything in that it forces imagination. Drive that train. Pack that animal. Tie a string to it to pull it along. It doesn’t think for you. Think and play as we once did. Some yes - some no. But I’m happy I bought 2

Our son is 41 now. When he was 3 we purchased many Brio pieces bc he so loved to play with the tracks, bridges, people, etc. Now he has twin boys who just turned 3. They love the set & we decided to add to it as there are 2 boys clamoring to play long periods with these pieces. We added several boxes with various activities. The boys LOVE IT!

BRIO is the best. All the components are very high quality and have good manufacturing tolerances. You can push the trains and they go super smoothly on the tracks and everything fits together really nicely. I’m such a snob because when I’m playing with these with my son I try to put all our cheap tracks off to the side so I don’t pollute the “purity” of our all-BRIO construction. The knockoffs are all off JUST enough that they make the trains fall of the tracks much more often than normal. Yes, I’m a grown man playing with a kids train set, but I still dislike the subtly broken geometry and coloring of a mixed set. My son just gets frustrated that the trains keep falling off the track. So stick with all BRIO. :)

This is an adorable set. However it is getting only four stars because the Amazon description says there is a cow and a horse, but there is no horse, only a poor, lonely cow with no farm friends. Other than that, it is an excellent set. Batteries are not needed. The easy-to-use crane hauls hay to the hay loft. Tracks are compatible with other tracks we have. And the trailer that hooks up to the tractor has a door/ramp thing so the cow can easily make its way in and out of the trailer. I hadn't noticed that the trailer has this part that opens - it's a teeny little thing - but my hawk-eye grandson saw the picture on the Brio box and asked where the door is. Then finally, to solve the lonely cow problem, my grandson used the animals from his Melissa & Doug chunky farm puzzle and set them up to keep the cow company. Compared to the Brio cow, the M&D animals are huge, but that detail doesn't seem to bother my two-and-a-half year old grandson. So if you decide to buy this set, find a farm animal of any size to keep the lonely cow company. It's so much more fun to watch the trains circle the track when a friend is by your side!
