Find new horizons and discover new trails when you hitch your bike to a Coho XC cargo trailer using the Coho 5mm Skewer. Available in multiple lengths, simply replace your bike's current quick release skewer with the Coho 5mm Skewer and you're ready to hit the trail.

Note: The Coho 5mm Skewer is required for any bike with a QR skewer to connect to the Coho XC. This skewer will replace your bike's current skewer when using the Coho XC.

Find the Right Adapter for Your Bike

Finding the right hitching solution doesn’t need to be complicated. Use this simple two-step guide to determine what axle or adapter your bike will need to attach your new Coho XC cargo trailer.

Note: “Hub width” refers to the measurement of the space between the bike’s dropouts where the wheel is installed. The hub width will be shorter than the actual skewer length. If you are unsure of the correct axle length, please consult with the manufacturer of your bike before purchasing a Burley Coho 5mm Skewer.

Step 1: Identify Your Axle Type

quick release axle

Quick Release Axle

The most common type of axle. The quick release axle has a lever that clamps the axle in place with an acorn nut on the opposite end.

bolt on axle

Bolt-On Axle

The bolt-on axle has a hex nut on both sides. It is common on fixed gear and single speed bicycles, as well as internally geared hubs.

thru axle

Thru Axle

Thru axles are thick and hollow. They are common on newer bicycles with disc brakes, especially mountain bikes.

Step 2: Purchase the Appropriate Adapter

I went to collect tonnes of mega blocks weighed around 40 pounds bought from Kijiji for my little daughter that day. I rode for about 20 km with this load. Except feeling a little shaky when I first got on the bike, the whole journey was safe and fast. Burley is a trustworthy brand.
