The two negative to using these...__ You have to drill out a hole in the body of your guitar to install these. You will not be able to go back to the standard button unless you plug the hole.__ You won't be able to use a strap that does NOT have the Dunlop button on it.Note: with Dunlop's Dual Design button's the straps will stick out a lot further, but they attach using the stock screw hole so you can put the stock buttons back on the guitar if you get rid of it AND you can use a regular strap that does not have the Dunlop strap locks attached to it.The positives... When you use this insert with the Dunlop strap button, the strap is almost flush with the surface of the guitar. There is a tiny gap because of the lip on the insert and the thickness of the button on the inside of the strap, but just enough so the movement of the strap isn't sanding off the finish on your guitar as they move around.I like to play a new guitar with the stock buttons or Dual Dunlop buttons for a while first. When I am sure I'll be keeping the guitar for a long time I install these inserts.

I have used Dunlop Straploks for many many years. I put them on all my own basses, and install them as part of upgrading basses I repair or buy for resale.Recently one of my customers asked for the flush mount version which I knew about but had never installed before. I ordered the least expensive set from a non-Prime vendor but the cost of the product and the cost of shipping were about the same as the Prime product so I ordered it from a small business instead of from Dunlop. Still a bit under $10 for a set of two.The huge downside was that it came with no directions. Fortunately, a search of the net revealed a couple of YouTube videos that showed how to install. There are also written instructions with pictures right on the Dunlop website. If you are changing from a regular strap button to one of these, you use one drill size and use the existing hole as a pilot hole to drill a 1 1/2 inch long hole for the screw. Once that is done, you use a larger drill to drill a 1/2 inch hole to flush mount the female Straplok button. The correct drill sizes are online at Dunlop or in the instructional videos on YT.If you follow the instructions, the results come out perfectly. See the attached pictures.

Dunlop strap locks are the best. I have them on all my guitars and love them. The fact that you can buy just the buttons at a low price is amazing, especially for those with large collections. They are lower profile and less bulky than the competition by a huge margin. Can’t praise them enough.

I put these on all of my basses as a matter of course. Strap buttons will ALWAYS come loose eventually, as the tension from your strap is pulling up on the button/screw. Flush mount strap locks keep the tension pulling up on the body of the instrument and you will never have to tighten, fill with wood filler and rescrew, add a toothpick because your screw hole is stripped, etc... Just remember that you can never use a strap without the strap lock system on it!
