Item arrived just as described. As you can see from the photos, the lid does close. The lid does close enough I can store it in my grill bag. There is about an inch gap.

This is a heavy (emphasis on heavy) duty griddle top that performs well. And it will outlast its owner if you take proper cast iron care of it.I also have the cast iron split griddles that I can use on my Roadtrip grills which is handy if you want to use a stove burner on the other half. I found that with the half griddles that they have 2 fairly sizeable holes that run along the outer edge of the half griddle plate. I assume that they help keep the burners from overheating underneath. But I've lost some scrambled eggs, that if you're too quick to pour can run down these holes. And they also allow the grease to fill the drip tray around the burners adding to clean up time. This full size griddle gains back the cooking area lost to the drain holes and split of half griddles. It opts to have a built in grease reservoir instead of holes. You don't get grease in the burner drip tray anymore. And I don't lose any pancake batter or eggs to the drip tray anymore. This griddle does stand taller up from the burners presumably to protect them from overheating. This does mean the grill lid won't close properly to transport together. Though with the heft of this thing, I wouldn't want to lug both together anyway. If you're Coleman model allows you to lift and detach its lid then you can detach and cover this way while cooking. 1 of my Colemans has a detachable lid but the other does not.Mine came preseasoned, but I added another layer. Though it does not fit well inside a standard oven so the thin oil ran toward the leaning side and seasoned a little thicker there. It may be tempting to get the lighter aluminum version, but I knew I would be too harsh on the non stick surface and quickly make it useless. I also wonder how heat retention would be on the aluminum option. This griddle takes a beating and performs better each cook. And if you do happen to mess up the surface, you can wire wheel, buff, and or sand it and re season it.I can see this griddle also useful on a flame stove top and possibly some barrel type charcoal grills.

Had to return 2 times .... quality is really bad. 1st one had chips in the coating on the surface & edges... the 2nd one has defects in the actual iron cast leaving ripples in multiple areas & also had a coating chip on the edge.

We love everything about having a big cast iron grill except not being able to lower the lid down all the way while cooking or when we’re done cooking. We have to remove the griddle top and store somewhere else when traveling which can be dirty headache. Happy with performance of griddle but just wish it fit better. easy to scrape clean Love the dipped area for grease collection.

I’ve read lots of reviews where people talk about he kid for the grill not closing due to the cast iron griddle being taller than the factory grates. I received my griddle plate and took one look at it installed on my Coleman road trip grill and found a VERY EASY solution. Open the lid about half way and pick it up and out of the hinge slots, lay it flat on the griddle and your done. Yes, it’s THAT easy!!! I am excited to put this thing to use while camping.

A very good griddle. Much less expensive than the name brand and works well. Be sure to season it properly.

Fits but will not allow the lid to close. To use this it will have to be removed and transported separately.Returned
