Didn't do my usual research on this item. I just confirmed it would work on my unit and liked the USB port included. "It's just a power cord, right?" Wrong.When we received this item and plugged it in our GPS reported that this cord will *power* the unit but does not charge the battery.

This product does not fit Garmin RV products as noted! I have a Garmin RV 890, which base connection does appear to be USB mini, but is not. After calling Garmin I learned their connection is proprietary.

I was happy to find this cable here as it checked all the boxes for features that I needed.... a mini-USB plug to power my Garmin and USB A&C jacks to allow other devices to be charged. In theory, everything looked perfect. However, when I connected the cord to my Garmin I get an error message saying the cord cannot charge the GPS. Additionally, the GPS goes to "computer-connected" mode instead of standard GPS mode when this cord is being used. All that being said, I'm going to end up throwing this cable in the trash as it serves no purpose for me.
