About this item

  • The World's best-selling premium guitar speaker
  • Classic Celestion tone, perfectly suited to many different playing styles and genres
  • Characterized by a warm low-end, famously rich, vocal mid-range and a beautifully detailed top-end
  • Captured on thousands of recordings by a diverse range of guitar players
  • Ceramic magnet 12" guitar speaker with 60-watt power handling, ideal for replacement or upgrade

Back in 1986 a new breed of hard rock player was on the rise. To meet the demands of the players and their increasingly 'hot-rodded' amplifiers, we set out to develop a modern speaker, capable of handling much more power and overdrive. To achieve this, we coupled our 'H' magnet (the closest in performance to Alnico) with a new cone and voice coil employing contemporary materials. Our most revealing speaker, the Vintage 30 features enormously detailed and complex overtones, a warm low-end, a famously rich vocal mid-range and a beautifully detailed top-end. Used singly to reveal the complexities in hand-wired boutique amps, or in quartets for a wonderfully intricate vintage three dimensional crunch, the Vintage 30 sound has been captured on thousands of recordings by players including Slash and Peter Frampton and bands ranging from Gov't Mule to Killswitch Engage. SPECIFICATIONS: Power rating: 60W ; Nominal impedance: 8ohm ; Sensitivity: 100dB ; Frequency range: 70-5000Hz ; Unit weight: 10.4lb ; Shipping weight: 12lb

It's a Vintage 30! So other than the fact it's a great speaker that so many go to (including me) when the need arises, as it did this time for me, what really floored me about the particular one I received was that it was made in the UK! The last couple of them I had purchased were made in China (not that they seemed to be inferior to my ear), but this one is clearly marked as made in UK. The box said it and the speaker did too. Yea UK!!!

I was going to buy a new AMP because I wanted a hard biting sound for old school metal.. so instead of buying a new amp I bought this Vintage 30 and I will say its true about the sound being in the speaker.. I made my amp sound amazing!

Vintage 30'a dönersek.

These speakers sound really good. Don't listen to people who say the made in England versions sound better. I've used several of these in 4x12 and 2x12 cabinets and they all sound great. Yes, they have an upper midrange spike; depending on the amp, this could lead to ear fatigue. However, they cut through really well.

I finally decided to buy one these to mix into a 212 cabinet with another Celestion g12h. It really blends nicely, the g12h is kinda harsh somewhat and this V30 really makes it growl just as I wanted it to.Here’s my first thoughts and recommendations for someone thats has purchased this speaker or any new speaker. Mount it in your cabinet and play it, at first speakers will always sound thick and heavy sounding. So by playing through it more and more over time like say a few hundred hours you will hear a huge difference in sound because the speaker has to wear in so to say. Right out of the box is no way to judge your speakers properly until you have literally played them with everything you got. Take some time and listen how its responding and soon you’ll be so happy when one day you turn it on and think Wow its finally done. Your guitar will roar and cause that speaker to do things like never before. This speaker is great for any type of music when you just have to make adjustments on your amplifier and guitar.I highly recommend anyone who wants to have something nice to add to their equipment then get one or however many you’re gonna need to achieve your desired sound. Good luckPlay It Loud

I put these in a 2x12 cabinet from Sound Town purchased from Amazon. The reputation of these speakers is well warranted. They sound great. The Sound Town cabinet, while somewhat larger than I imagined, is priced right and well made. Speakers fit perfectly on the pre-drilled self tapping screw holes. Wire hook up is simple.

A year ago I tried the 16 ohm version in my 2017 Peavey Bandit. The Blue Marvel speaker that came with it is actually a very good speaker. But I couldn't get the tone from the Vintage 30 out of my head. So the 16 ohm (UK version) went back into my Peavey Classic 30 (where I'm very happy to have it). This 8 ohm version is actually warmer sounding then the 16 ohm version (to my surprise). And it's not even broken in yet.! With my Strat on the neck pickup on the clean channel with the eq at 12 o'clock it sounds "Hendrix like, think 'The Wind Cries Mary). On the drive channel with the drive and treble at 10 o'clock, mid and bass at 12, it sounds very much like a cranked Plexi.

I put this speaker into my blackstar ht5r mkii combo amp to replace the stock speaker. The old speaker sounded muffled all the time no matter what I did. As soon as I swapped the celestion speaker I found the open sound I was looking for.The speaker bolts line up perfectly so no necessary drilling. It also has two poles for the positive and negative lead attachments which are also labeled to help you wire the speaker if you have limited area to work with. The speaker is slightly louder than the original but I do believe this is due to the better treble and middle frequencies of the celestion speaker.Magnet size matters lol. As soon as you pick up the speakers for comparison you can notice the quality difference and weight.Overall this speaker is awesome. It brought my amp to life and I would definitely recommend.

This is fantastic! I bought this speaker to replace the Celestion 70/80 in my new Marshal DSL 40C combo amp, there's nothing wrong with the 70/80 but I was just curious to see if there might be an improvement in the sound. Let me tell ya, the difference was jaw dropping, suddenly it became became so much more articulate. Everything seemed to just tighten up and clean, revealing subtle differences I hadn't noticed before. Also the dynamic range increased tremendously but with no muddyness in the sound, it has made an already brilliant amp even better. To say I am blown away is an understatement, also comparing the two speakers after removing the original 70/80, I noticed the magnet on the Vintage-30 is over twice the thickness and size of the 70/80. The weight is also over twice as much in the Vintage-30, so in conclusion if you want to improve the sound of your Marshal DSL-40C. Do yourself a favour and spend the extra money on a Vintage-30 speaker, you won't be disappointed!

I replaced the stock speaker in my Marshall DSL40C with the Vintage 30. It is not even close to being broken in but let me say WOW! I have a Schecter with active EMG's in it and it sounded pretty good even with the stock speaker in it. I bought an ESP with Seymour Duncan passive pickups on it and no matter the adjustments to the amp or pedal board it always sounded muddy in the bottom end. I paid a lot of money for that ESP and was fit to be tied. I was thinking about switching out the Duncan's with something else but I kept thinking, this is an ESP guitar built by hand in Japan. Not an LTD from S. Korea and these are the king of kings when it comes to Metal so I better do some research first. I found an article online which stated that upgrading the speaker in your amp is probably the first step to take if you have a quality guitar, a good tube amp but it doesn't sound right. It went on to say that in most cases people replace the pups which are not cheap to buy 2 high quality humbuckers. If you can't replace them yourself be prepared to let it sit at a Tech's shop for a couple of weeks and pay them even more money. In most cases this still doesn't do the trick. I'm glad I read this article first and replaced the speaker with one of the best ever, a Vintage 30 because now my ESP sounds like a guitar of it's caliber. Mud no more! Sounds great and it only took me about 10-15 minutes from start to finish to swap out the speakers. Do not hesitate to buy these speakers because they will not disappoint. No disrespect to the ESP LTD series either, they are great guitars as well.
