The magnet fits well on the back of standard nametags and will hold together on thinner fabrics like cotton. However, it does not work on jacket lapels or thick material.I used to leave my nametag on my cubicle flipper cabinet so I would lose it, but this magnet is so ayah that it can't even hold the weight of the nametag to the metal on my cabinet. I bought these for the entire team and all of them have replaced them.

I use these for nametags I make using a laser engraver, they work great! Would highly recommend these for your DIY name-tag projects!

Good strong magnets. Easy to apply with the adhesive backing. Pull is strong enough that it is very difficult to simply pull apart. Must twist apart. I would buy these again.
