I only used the cleaner and not the protector. I'd have no idea how to apply the protector so just went with the cleaner. I had a 1 oz silver coin I used it on since it says it's safe on silver. I hope I didn't ruin it like some of the other reviewers are saying, that it takes a thin layer of silver off with it. I didn't see anything like that. The pictures attached show the before and after.A few things:- I didn't like that the cup it comes with is a tiny little cup, not usable for dipping silver items in unless they are tiny like rings or earrings. I had to find a disposable cup and then poured some solution in it.- The solution itself didn't have a strong smell, but as soon as I put the coin in, a noxious smell came from it. I should have worn a mask and would recommend using one.- It was hard digging the coin out of the bottom of the cup after five seconds, so this probably stayed in the full 15 seconds by the time I was able to fish it out and rinse it off. I'd suggest you start with a penny or nickel and figure out your system first before doing anything of real worth.- The coin came out looking better, so it worked well.- I only used a small portion of the liquid in the bottle so this could be used for multiple uses.- The process was a pain so be prepared to practice first and get the hang of it.Overall, if you're looking for a cleaner, this seemed to do the trick. I'd be more confident in using this again now that I've done it before. Again, I didn't try the protector since you have to brush it on and let it dry and what do you set it against while it's drying? Maybe do one side, let it dry, then do the other side? Seems complicated. I got it looking good with just the cleaner and stored it away so that's all I cared about. For the price, this seems about right. I don't plan to take it in for selling or valuing so I don't know if this damages the coin like some people think it will. It looks fine to me.

Works well on most coins and helps restore shine without causing visible damage. It’s easy to use. However, I was disappointed with the price. For the amount of solution you get, it feels overpriced compared to similar products on the market.

This cleaner does a good job of removing the oxidation layer on coins (or any oxidized metallic object really). I tested this on some recent pennies and quarters and it brought back the original colors. The vapors are very strong so be sure to use this outdoors. Also do some research before using this on valuable coins as this process will devalue the coins considerably.

I bought this coin cleanser to shine some old coins, drawn in by the before-and-after photos. The product works—my test with a dirty penny and a 1984 quarter showed noticeable improvement after just a five-second soak. That said, it’s important to read both the product description and the box instructions carefully. There are a few inconsistencies regarding which metals are safe to clean and how long to soak coins. For example, the ad mentions it’s suitable for all coins, including antiques (with caution), while the box specifies gold, silver, copper, and aluminum. Soaking times also vary between sources, ranging from a few seconds to longer depending on corrosion, but overexposure can lead to texture loss. To stay safe, I followed the most conservative instructions.I recommend preparing everything in advance, including opening the safety seal, and using the product in a well-ventilated area with gloves and a mask as suggested in the instructions. Doing so made the process smooth and straightforward.Overall, I’m giving this four stars for its effectiveness. Just be sure to review all instructions and take safety precautions for the best results.

This item shipped and arrived fast. I was always told and under the impression that you are to never clean collectable coins of value. When I had a chance to order this coin cleaner and protector kit I figured that I would give it a try on some coins of face value and some trinket coins we have. My theory is that if you clean a coin that has tarnish you have to be removing a layer of the metal and that can add up it we are talking gold, silver, platinum, etc... I tried this solution on an aged penny and it did clean it up but it took awhile sitting in the solution to do so but it did come clean to a point. It was not a new mint stage clean but it looked far better than the years of abuse. I have researched coin cleaning online and talked to several collectors and get different but similar opinions. I doubt I will be cleaning any gold coins in the near future but I am using this to clean and protect my wife's collection of smashed visitors coins she has collected over the years and placing the protector on them. Overall for my two cents of opinion this product does work, is it good for your coins and or deface the value of a collectable coin? That is the question. I rated this product 5 stars because it does work. I just don't know if it will affect the value of graded coins or coins you plan on having graded. I will call and talk with PSA and they will give me the correct answer because they are the top graders in the business.
