Product Description

Steering Shaft

Automotive Function of the Steering Columns

The role of the Automotive steering shaft is to transfer the steering torque of the driver on the Automotive steering wheel to the steering gear. The upper part is fixed to the steering wheel and the lower part is connected to the steering gear. The Automotive steering shaft passes through the Automotive steering column tube and is supported by the bearings and bushings in the Automotive steering column tube. Some steering shafts are not only rigid, but also have an energy-absorbing function to prevent injury.

We have 13 different sizes of Automotive U-joints for you to choose:

Causes of Automotive abnormal steering shaft noise:

The Automotive steering shaft will make an abnormal noise if the ground is uneven. If the ground is not level, the Automotive steering shaft will make some sound, sometimes not. Steering noise when steering: When turning on bad roads or uphill, you will feel a thumping noise from the Automotive steering wheel occasionally. This noise will be transmitted to the steering wheel.

How to deal with Automotive rusty steering shaft ?

First: Remove and wipe the rust from the Automotive steering shaft with a fine sand cloth, then melt it with a white candle at high temperature and apply the melted paraffin wax to the metal part of the steering shaft. The thickness of the coating is up to you. The paraffin wax coating will act as a moisture barrier and air barrier, and I believe it will not rust for several years.

Second: You can also use rosin (melted rosin powder with alcohol) to apply it, the effect is the same as paraffin wax, but the moisture resistance is better. There are also anti-rust paint spraying, buttering, etc.

SHAFT

In fact, if the car owner can do a good job of daily maintenance, the Automotive steering shaft usually does not have a strange sound and rust. However, as the age of the car grows, if the steering shaft is badly worn, it is recommended that the car owner may consider replacing the Automotive steering shaft, which will make the car safer to drive.

This has great dimensional accuracy throughout the length to run a 3/4" DD shaft through. The steel seems to be of great quality and strength. If you're building a custom intermediate steering column as I am, this is the prefect item. I would even recommend it it for any other project where a DD tube is needed. A great value for the price and ought function great on any application.

Dimensionally correct and more than sufficient for steering shaft usage in terms of material quality and thickness.

I got this for a custom hotrod/race car build to add some adjustability in steering column length as well as a little crash protection using shear bolts to pin the solid 3/4 DD I put in side (sold separately). The 36" length game me plenty to work with, I only needed about 18" so I have enough to do it over again if I need to.The shaft comes well packaged in bubble wrap and in a bag with oil inside to keep from rusting. Very nice job. My existing 3/4 DD slid right in with no binding or rough spots at all. I haven't checked to see if my 1" DD universal fits tightly, but that's what the grub screws are for.Great job Cool Star!
