My package of snaps was worthless. I had read a few others’ complaints about difficulty separating snap parts, but I needed some soon and thought I could loosen the tight ones. WRONG!I literally had to use a sturdy, fine-edged knife to get a slit separated enough to then insert a flat-head screwdriver, to twist and finally pop open the snap. Still determined, I thought I might slightly file around the bulb (male) end, removing the paint and reducing its circumference, so it would be easier to pull the two pieces apart. No help. So, I doused the pieces with WD-40. Nope. I finally got out my lighted magnifying glass and peered into the receiving part, and found the problem. At the bottom of the female piece, the metal protrudes slightly, in order to grab and hold the bulbed top piece. But —the protrusion is a tiny bit too tight, and won’t allow the two pieces to separate, once they are forcefully joined— without using brute force (and a sturdy wedge or a flat screwdriver). These snaps should have been quality-checked in the factory before releasing to the customer.

They do what they're supposed to do. Easy to sew. On a winter jacket, I took the wretched imitation Velcro squares off of the wind flap and replaced them with these snaps.
