As other reviews mention, the cable is too short. This gives the car a very high idle. I had to modify the wire stopper in order to have the correct length.

Went by exact part number off of old throttle cable on a 1997 TJ with 4.0…. 4854137AAThe plastic snap in end at firewall was too big and the throw length at throttle body was @ 1/4 too short which made the throttle way too high at start up… not good match up to the original cable… would not buy againHad to give 1 star just to get my review up

I have ordered three of these cables all the same model number and manufacturer from three different online vendors, hoping to get one that matched the OEM length. In the picture you can see that the Dorman cable is a quarter inch shorter than the OEM one. They look almost exactly the same otherwise. That shorter length means your throttle is left wide open when you hook it up. The throttle linkage is not adjustable on the Jeep, the cable needs to be the right length. Out of the lot of three, I picked the one that was the closest length, and modified it by removing some of the plastic material on the gas pedal end so that the throttle would return to a closed position. Also, once you bend the cable in the 270 degree loop it needs to go from the throttle body to the firewall, that also results in the cable length shortening, which worsens the open throttle position. If they are going to have this poor quality control, Dorman should at least include a means of adjusting the length through a screw mechanism like you see on some of the universal cables out there. I would not recommend buying unless you are willing to fiddle with it.

Throttle cable worked exactly as advertised. I gave it 3 stars because I needed to make a slight modification to the clip that passes through the firewall. The retaining clip was a little too large to fit through the firewall so I had to shave it down a little bit. No big deal but a little annoying. Other than that minor hiccup it worked fine and snapped right in. Took about 30 minutes to install.

Much like the other reviews, the cable is about 1/4” short and won’t let the throttle body go back to idle.

Being my first Crown cable, I didn't know what to expect. The fit was perfect. Clip was bit tight coming through the firewall. However, the plastic used in that clip was very different from the original. When you pull the original cable back and forth through the original clip and is very smooth. You can actually hear the grating of the Crown wire against the clip. I installed it to see if the noisy, cablesaw-like action had any impact on function. Yes it did! Resistance against the throttle spring aggravated the problem. Impossible to modulate. Ratcheting-like operation. This would be a good cable for an emergency, but I can't live with it. Impossible to feather a launch. Will kill my clutch trying to use it. Hopefully my experience is an exceptional one.
