Fits good but needs more than a 10 pound slide hammer to work. Had to drive a large chisel in one side to break circ ring loose.

I used this to pull an axle from a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu, because the GM shop manual indicated to use a very similar product. I was able to pull the axle with only 3 or 4 pulls of my Winmax slide-hammer. It was definitely worth every dollar, and I'm sure I will use it again in the future. It has a standard 5/8" - 18 thread that fit my slide-hammer perfectly.

This tool saved me! I pryed and pryed to the point I was worried about messing something up. I tried the vice grip attachment with the slide hammer and it keep slipping off. This tool took it off with about 6 good hits. I did have to grind it a little to make it fit. Just use your new axle as a guide so you don’t grind too much or too little off. It worked for me!

While changing out the front passenger strut, I stupidly forgot to support the lower control arm. As I removed the strut, the hub fell down and pulled the cv axel inner joint out. The boot was stretched out and the joint had separated inside of the boot. After attempting to ram the joint back together for hours, I realized the CV axel needed to be removed. (The only way to push the joint back together is to remove the boot and push the three bearing inside the boot out towards the side.) Of course the cv axel was stuck , after hours At trying to remove the axel without cutting off the boot, I gave up and ordered this tool. I had originally wrapped the cv axel with chain and tried pulling on it. Even that didn’t work. I then bolted the chain to the slide hammer and that didn’t work either. Once this part came in ( I also ordered a slide hammer extension bar) , I installed it onto the slide hammer( bought from harbor freight) and a few time hammering it out the cv axel popped off. Works great and saved a lot of time.

After struggling to remove the passenger side front CV axle from a 2001 RAV4, I ordered this puller with a 5 pound slide hammer. It took about fifty strong pulls, and the axle finally came out. After using this for the job, I cannot envision any other way of getting the job done. The tool is very well made, and shows no signs of bending. It fit perfectly behind the axle. No more pickle forks for me.

The puller is fat. The thickness is too much to allow it to fit between the CV joint and a New Beetle's transaxle. So I couldn't use it. But it did thread nicely onto my OTC slide hammer and seemed well made. But if your gap between CV and transmission is small, this part won't work for you.
