This does function as needed but could have been built a little longer for more leverage. Also had signs of wear from one use so I question the build quality

With the dual cams set with the timing belt marks, the tool's angle handle didn't allow for a good fit over the harmonic balancer because the handle interfered with the car's frame. The handle wither needs to be angled outward more or the thickness of the round part needs to be doubled. So I had to move the cams off of the timing marks to get a good fit, and I used a block of wood propped between the floor and tool to get leverage. When I used the breaker bar to loosen the harmonic balancer nut, the circle part bent to a more oval shape, fell off, and then I could no longer get it to fit to act as a counteract to loosen the nut. What I ended up doing was buying a cordless Craftsman impact wrench at Lowes for $180 and was able to get the nut off in about 10 seconds. My advice: spend the money on a good impact wrench instead of buying this tool. You won't need a counteract tool if you use an impact wrench. IMO, the $180 I spent on the impact wrench was money well spent.

The holding tool was installed in the same location for pulley removal and installation. For installation I added a 6" 1/2" extension and 4" C clamp, as pictured. Crankshaft nut (30mm) was removed with an air impact wrench and installed using a 16" 3/4" entension and torqued to 133 ft-lb.

It worked as intended. Definitely seems like it is not strong enough to work but did its job for torquing the crank nut. Some commented that it bent during removal of the nut but I use an impact to remove the nuts so can't comment on that process. Worked well once so far.

For my application it fit as it should. However the metal is soft. I don’t use the impact on things like crankshaft fasteners. I tried to remove the fastener using a breaker bar attached to the tool for leverage. The hole simply was rounding out while the tool began to bend.. CTA please use better metal.

Bought this to do a timing belt on a 2010 Volvo 2.4 non-turbo engine. As you can see it is not made to fit the alignment pin on the balancer. These "white block" engines are all the same as far as the balancer goes. Also, if you compare the item I received to the item shown by the seller, they are different. Theirs has an open area where the pin would be.Shipping was quick, construction of the tool looks good, but it simply won't work.

To the gentlemen above, I don't think the problem was with this tool, I got this tool from fcpgroton (a very reputable parts and tool provider in the euro community) I think the problem was with the fact that you were using 700!! Ft lbs of torque and that previous mechanic over torqueing, as that nut shouldn't have been torqued more than 135 ft lbs

Used on Volvo S40 2.4i - previous mechanic way over-torqued the main pulley nut. Used with 3/4" extension and 3/4" drive socket and 48" breaker bar and applied 700 ft-lbs of force. This tool fit perfectly, but is made of inferior metal. You see the result to the tool. The nut still didn't loosen. No stars. I was forced to tap 1 star in order to submit this.
