The painting/coating on this cast iron step sucks! It started rusting right away after the first time it gets wet. My grandmas old cast iron skillet looks better than this rusting step. Come on CURT, you guys should know how to paint or coat metal to keep it from rusting. For the premium CURT price this step should have been powder coated. It looks like I’m gonna have to keep a rattle can of Rustoleum in my truck to keep it painted.

Used on a 2022 Ford eTransit.Sturdy platform to reach the back of our cargo van. The only complain is that the step is not level and is sagging backward. I understand that is probably due to the fact that they allow for some "play" in each holes for a easier insertion of the several hitch pin but I would expect that some clever engineering can achieve that will keeping the step level.

This step is very sturdy, super awesome powder coat finish, but man it’s VERY tight to get on. I have to use a hammer to get both pins installed because it’s so tight to get this step in place within the channel. My other Curt accessories fit fine.

I installed this on a Curt 45902 ball mount and left the hitch ball installed with the step mounted beneath it in the bottom position. I was originally looking at the AMP Research Bed Step and the Bestop TrekStep but they’re way overpriced at $225+ and I already had the Curt ball mount for this step.I don’t find the step to be unsafe in either wet or dry conditions as another reviewer stated but I think the tread could be improved a bit by Curt - it needs just a little more height on the tread pattern to be grippy. Not being able to use the step with the tailgate down doesn’t bother me as my tailgate has a dampener and I can easily lower the tailgate from inside the bed. If you really want to be able to use the step with the tailgate down, add a receiver extension tube. The step is sturdy and it will definitely help with climbing in and out of the truck bed but -1 star for Curt not including any pins with the step. I leave both the ball and step mounted and remove the step as needed for towing so I had to pick up a couple of 5/8” pins that fit from a hardware store. I would have preferred that Curt just include a couple of light duty 5/8” pins with the step for a few $ more.Another -1 star is for the loose fit of the step in the mount. The ball that comes with the newest style Curt 45902 adjustable ball mount has a rubber bumper on the back that keeps it from rattling and again I would have paid more $ for this step if Curt included the same type of anti-rattle bumper on it. As it is, the step has some flop to it and I can occasionally hear it in the truck going down the road. Planning on epoxying a thick piece of rubber on the back to fix that.Overall I’d buy it again but Curt could make this step a better value with a couple of minor tweaks and I’d also gladly pay more for it if it was made in the USA.

Solid & sturdy step and looks great when paired with the Curt adjustable hitch mount. My biggest issue is that it is NOT long enough to use if my F150 tailgate is down. Therefore it is not possible to use the step if the tailgate is not in the locked/upright position. Also, it constantly setoff my backup alarm/assist as if it was an obstacle behind the vehicle when backing up. For these reasons I am returning the product.

Add this to the corresponding mount and you have a hell of a formidable pre-bumper.

I submitted a return of this product by curt. It is not the fault of the seller, seller does just fine, it should be returned to the manufacturer as is unsafe when wet or dry. It tilt down. I almost fell from using it, luckily I hang on to the truck!! I like other curt’s Product (#45900 Hitch) but not this one. when they remake the step I may reconsider buying it again if it has a surface like a motorcycle peg! This is not the fault of the seller.
