My Smart 451 Pure blower motor function gave up the ghost. (Unnamed) dealership wanted $1,710 to replace the SAM module, which is part of the fuse block assembly. I wasn't going to spend that much on a 2013 model, although it only has 40K miles, so I researched some possibilities. All-in-all, for the price of this speed controller (30 Amp rating) + 12 gauge wire and terminals, I spent about $35 total - and I now have variable speed, not 4 fixed speed settings. I mounted it sideways where the cheap sounding stereo called home. Couldn't be happier. The jury is still out on its longevity, but that hold true with anything.Just ordered a second controller to have on hand as a spare. I guess there are hit & miss failures, as I unfortunately acquired one off ebay, but I lucked out and both purchases on Amazon were good and functional.
